2nd Shift (4:00 pm to 2:00 am; M-F)

Starting Wage $25.24/hr + $1 shift differential

The Slitter/Decoiler Operator is an Individual Contributor responsible for the setup and operation of various pieces of equipment, including a Slitter and Decoiler machine, to level, edge trim and cut-to-length steel sheets from coil.

               

Essential Functions

Responsible for programming and operating the PLC controlled leveling and shearing machinesResponsible for calibration and set-up of equipmentObserve operation and periodically verify conformance of machined work to process sheet, specifications and blueprint dataUnband steel coil to feed through the cut-to-length machineLoad steel coil via the coil cartMaintain the cleanliness of work area including all equipment and machineryUse overhead crane, forklift and/or conveyor to load/unload materialAbility to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature-controlled environment and outdoorsOther duties as required and/or assigned

Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficultyMake mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machineryRead and decipher blueprints and flat sheets without assistanceThe employee must maintain a safe and productive work environment producing a quality product which is shipped complete and on time to satisfy the needs of the customerThe employee has a direct impact on safety, quality, productivity, and deliveryThis position reports to the Production Supervisor

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawingsThe ability to operate overhead cranes, forklifts and basic welding equipmentThe ability to read a tape measureThe ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issuesThe ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of peopleThe ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructionsThe ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environmentThe ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 poundsWear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulationsMaintain a safe and productive working environment

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent1 year of previous experience in a heavy manufacturing setting1 year of previous experience with overhead crane operationsThe ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructionsThe ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive mannerMust have a high awareness for safety at all times.Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
