The Slice & Pack Line Supervisor directs, motivates, and develops team members in safe and proficient work practices. This position is responsible for the coordination of slicing, grading, and boxing patties and the accurate weighing, sealing, palletizing and prompt removal of the product from the production area. The incumbent must adhere to the programs and policies of the Meat Plant and those of White Castle System, Inc. and setting the example for all team members. These include but are not limited to, creating a safe work environment and safe work practices by enforcing safety rules; and adhere to quality programs set forth by the Meat Division, USDA and White Castle System, Inc. to ensure wholesomeness of the product. The Slice & Pack Line Supervisor is expected to uphold and demonstrate the Company’s Core Values.  What we are looking forHigh School diploma or GED is required; at least one year of supervisory experienced preferred; and a background in the meat processing industry or USDA is preferred;Must have a basic understanding of the meat plant process and equipment used in the meat plant;Acquired knowledge of slice/pack operation and how the operation fits into plant yield;Must have good knowledge of the plant safety, quality and administrative programs and must be able to monitor and enforce these programs;Capability to become licensed for the motorized pallet jack upon completion of the Power Material Handling Equipment Training and Certification Program;Competency with the team member time keeping systems and scheduling is required, either through education, training and/or experience;Ability to direct and motivate team members;Proficient computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and search engines;Ability to learn the internal WMS system;Must have OSHA 10 knowledge or the ability to complete the compliance class; Possess good employee relation skills, as well as good verbal communication skills, teamwork, ability to give and receive direction, and follow detailed instructions;Aptitude to troubleshoot problems and be able to make on the spot decisions to keep equipment running;Ability to learn, apply and train others on equipment procedures and workplace health & safety procedures;Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment;Capability to stay focused and accomplish multiple tasks independently with little supervision and within established timeframes;Ability to successfully complete on-the-job training; andMust be flexible to work hours to meet the needs of the plant, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.  What you will doHire, train, develop, and motivate team members;Work and communicate directly with team members to assist in performance needs, problem solving, training needs, correcting behavioral problems and/or conflicting personalities;Identify staffing needs and production demands and provide proper communication with (within or to) the department to keep all team members informed to produce the highest quality product;Meet needed production demands of quality patties by coordinating activities and team members within the department to result in the most efficient use of time and materials available;Ensure and enforce compliance of all programs, policies, and procedures; including, but not limited to, safety, quality, fair and equal treatment of team members;Meets the needed production demands as dictated by sales volume;Work directly with team members to ensure the highest quality product is produced;Assists in the department set-up or tear down of equipment as dictated by shift;Accurate preparation and filing of daily, weekly, and period reports;Participates in the safety program and works closely with the safety coordinator to conduct inspections, safety training, etc.;Serves as a member of the HACCP Committee and attend required meetings;Attendance of training seminars as required by management;Comply with incident reporting policies and procedures;Adhere to Plant’s security and safety policies and procedures; andCommunicate effectively with customers and all levels of the organization in a professional manner, display a positive demeanor and be responsive to the teams’ needs.

 

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSFrequent bending, turning, twisting, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, pulling, and lifting of objects up to 70 lbs. (unassisted/assisted);Ability to frequently work in a wet slippery environment with exposure to noise, heat, cold, fumes, smoke, cleaners, and other elements;Ability to wear safety gear including safety glasses, and other various types of safety gear supplied by the company;Prolong periods of standing, sitting, and walking; andAbility to hear, comprehend, and professionally respond to co-worker inquiries, comments, and concerns.
