About the Company

Our client is a recognized leader in the commercial construction sector, known for delivering high-quality institutional, commercial, and industrial (ICI) projects across Canada. They are currently seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee field operations on large-scale developments in Vancouver, BC.

Position Summary

The Superintendent will be responsible for managing all on-site activities related to mechanical and electrical systems. This includes coordinating trades, supervising installations, resolving technical challenges, and ensuring that work aligns with project specifications, timelines, and safety standards. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, proven leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence in construction delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee field operations to ensure compliance with design documents, building codes, and safety regulationsCollaborate on scope development and tender documentation for mechanical and electrical tradesManage schedules for submissions, deliveries, installations, inspections, and commissioningSupport project leadership with RFIs, shop drawings, and close-out documentationCoordinate labor, materials, and equipment to meet project milestonesIdentify and resolve discrepancies in structural and M&E documentationConduct preventative maintenance checks and oversee system commissioningLead stakeholder meetings and mentor junior site staffMaintain high standards of quality and safety throughout the project lifecycle

Required Qualifications

5 to 10+ years of supervisory experience on large ICI projectsStrong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, boilers, chillers, and electrical systemsAbility to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and specificationsProven ability to manage subcontractors and enforce safety and quality standardsFamiliarity with OH&S and environmental compliance regulations

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with healthcare or design-build projectsStrong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skillsValid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screeningExperience with functional performance testing and preventative maintenance
