Expected salary range of $103,500 to $115,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
**LOCATION**
This role will maintain an **on-site presence at project sites 100% of the work week** .
Initially, this role will be on-site at a project location in Washington D.C area. **The predominant schedule for this role will be 2nd shift** , but work hours will vary based on client needs. Occasional weekend hours may be required, based on project needs. **This role will require the ability to work a varied shift/schedule on short notice.**
Following the D.C. based project, the Construction Project Manager will support other project sites across the Mid-Atlantic region. Travel to other project sites, as needed, will be required.
Our ideal candidate will live in the greater D.C. metro or Northern Virginia area.
**PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION**
The Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for the development and review of the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP), activity hazard analyses (AHAs), amendments to the accident prevention plan, on-site safety education, site safety meetings, overall safety and health compliance of the project, and a proactive innovative attitude towards solving difficult site-specific safety issues. The SSHO is responsible for managing, implementing, and enforcing the project Accident Prevention Plan. The SSHO shall provide full-time on-site safety and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections, training, reporting and safety enforcement.
**PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES**
+ Create, implement, and maintain a site-specific Accident Prevention Plan in accordance with EM 385-1-1.
+ Develop required Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) for the project and coordinate review and understanding with all affected project personnel.
+ Develop and implement project safety training programs, including initial safety orientation and ongoing safety and health training; conduct training sessions and maintain training records for all project personnel.
+ Conduct regularly scheduled site safety meetings and maintain records of meetings, inspections, deficiencies, corrective actions, incidents, and injuries.
+ Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety and health regulations, including EM 385-1-1 where applicable.
+ Conduct daily safety and health inspections, maintaining a written log of inspected areas, dates, identified hazards or deficiencies, corrective actions taken, and dates corrections were completed.
+ Enforce all safety policies and procedures; ensure that all project personnel, including subcontractors and visitors, comply with all safety and health requirements.
+ Lead and document investigations of all accidents and near-miss events; complete and submit all required reports to appropriate parties.
+ Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals used on-site along with their safety data sheets (SDS); retain relevant safety reference materials applicable to site activities.
+ Attend all pre-construction conferences, tailgate meetings, pre-work meetings, preparatory meetings, and periodic in-progress meetings.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Safety or related field (e.g. environmental health, radiation protection, biology, chemistry, engineering disciplines, etc.) with 5 years of related safety experience **OR** equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience as outlined below:
+ Associate’s degree plus 7 year of relevant safety experience
+ High School Diploma/G.E.D. plus 9 years of relevant safety experience
+ OSHA 30-hour general industry or construction safety certification
+ Documented continuing education training consisting of 24 hours within the past 5 years
+ Knowledge of OSHA regulations and EM 385-1-1 requirements
+ Ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for extended periods
+ Ability to climb ladders, reach with hands and arms to climb and balance
+ Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (i.e. eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, fall protection equipment, etc.)
+ Microsoft Office Suite experience
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with team members and business stakeholders
+ Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving/conflict resolution, time management, and independent decision-making
+ Ability to work independently / self-starter
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ BCSP Certification (CSP, ASP, or CHST)
+ EM 385-1-1 certification
+ Experience working on federal government projects
+ 5+ years of construction site safety experience, highly preferred
