Site Reliability Manager London Full Time July 25, 2025 Find out more Site Reliability Manager

Domestic & General is a company with an ambitious future. We are expanding our horizons and entering new markets and we need your expertise to help make it happen. We are an international company who works with some of the worlds most respected and well-known brands of domestic appliances and electronic consumer goods. These opportunities don’t come around often, so this really is a position not to be missed.

About the role

Domestic & General (D&G) is a technology-powered insurance business undergoing a major transformation — evolving from a traditional, ITIL-driven department into a modern, product-led, DevSecOps organisation. As Site Reliability Manager, you lead the Cloud and Infrastructure team of fourteen (nine permanent, five contractors) primarily based in the UK. You’re responsible for designing, implementing, and optimising cloud infrastructure to ensure performance, scalability, and security. You manage existing cloud resources and network solutions while guiding a team transitioning from legacy systems to cloud-native operations. A key focus is driving automation through CI/CD pipelines, Ansible, and Infrastructure as Code, while embedding FinOps practices to improve efficiency and reduce cost. You also lead the development of an AI-powered observability solution to enable proactive, self-healing environments. Collaboration across D&G’s Technology and Engineering teams is essential, as is ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the Cloud & Infrastructure team, supporting both existing cloud resources and transitioning legacy infrastructure into scalable, automated cloud-native environments.

Design, implement, and evolve cloud platforms using services such as AWS, Azure, SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing systems.

Define and track Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Indicators (SLIs) to measure reliability, guide operational decisions, and align system performance with business expectations.

Oversee network solutions and connectivity across cloud and hybrid environments, ensuring seamless integration and performance.

Drive event-driven, self-healing automation using Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform), configuration tools (e.g. Ansible), and CI/CD pipelines to increase reliability and reduce manual intervention.

Develop an AI-powered observability strategy, enabling real-time monitoring, proactive incident response, and performance insights across systems and applications.

Embed FinOps principles across cloud operations to optimise spending, increase operational efficiency, and support budget targets.

Ensure security and compliance through DevSecOps practices, robust governance controls, patch management, and adherence to industry standards.

Manage and maintain infrastructure asset records, ensuring accurate tracking, lifecycle visibility, and alignment with FinOps, compliance, and audit requirements.

Lead vulnerability management and remediation efforts, including scanning, prioritisation, and resolution of security risks across cloud and infrastructure environments.

Mentor and guide the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, knowledge-sharing, and continuous improvement during D&G’s transformation journey.

Collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, aligning reliability and infrastructure strategies with business objectives and driving technology outcomes.

Engage with external vendors and technology partners to adopt best-in-class services and solutions that enhance business capabilities.

Lead infrastructure projects, managing delivery timelines, stakeholder expectations, and successful outcomes in support of D&G’s strategic roadmap.

Contribute to continuity and risk management plans, supporting disaster recovery procedures, risk register updates, and audit coordination.

Knowledge and Expertise

This role requires expert knowledge in cloud computing, infrastructure management, automation, and security. The Site Reliability Manager oversees designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud solutions aligned with the D&G’s goals. Key responsibilities include managing daily operations, strategic planning, project management, and troubleshooting. Success depends on integrating diverse technologies, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
