Site Reliability engineers apply Software Engineering principles to perform infrastructure management tasks more eHiciently. They are focused on reliability and resiliency, and build systems which proactively detect issues before they cause customer impact. They are responsible for maintaining a high-performance, secure, and stable infrastructure for our clients. Additionally, SREs resolve customer issues and problems detected through monitoring. They participate in datacenter build and configuration activities, performing tests, and deploy new features and capacity. **Your role and responsibilities** As a PowerVS Storage Operations Site Reliability Engineer, you perform the following tasks: • Develop scripting and automation to enable faster and more accurate performance of all system administration tasks. • Develop proactive, automated solutions to issues to prevent/avoid customer impacting events. • Perform firmware/software upgrades for: o Brocade SAN Switches. o IBM FlashSystem Storage Controllers. • Develop and/or runbooks and processes for all daily activities. • Configure newly deployed switches and storage controllers during datacenter builds and expansions. • Work collaboratively with other teams on complex issues involving multiple components. • Diagnose and resolve infrastructure (SAN, Storage controller) problems reported by: o Monitoring alerts. o Customer support cases. • Utilize diagnostic tools including IBM Storage Insights to diagnose storage problems (performance, IOPs, etc). **Required technical and professional expertise** • 3+ years of relevant work experience in Scripting and Automation including: Python, Perl, shell scripting (bash, etc), Go, Ansible, Ansible Automation Platform, etc • Strong experience in AIX, Linux (RedHat) • Understanding of Code Management and Updates (GitHub, Jira, etc). • Advanced understanding of IBM FlashSystem storage: configuration, encryption, performance analysis, tuning, thin-provisioning. • Familiarity with GDPR, HIPAA, FSCloud, and other regulations. • Advanced customer support experience, supporting complex multi-vendor storage environments (Hardware failures, advanced debugging, client-reported issues, configuration, etc) • Familiarity with IBM Storage Insights or related storage monitoring solutions (Spectrum Control, etc). • Advanced understanding of Storage Area Networks configuration understand zoning, config in a core edge design. **Preferred technical and professional experience** Experience with configuration and tuning in PowerVC. • IBM Cloud experience. • Azure experience. • Storage & Power RTS, MVS Network for Cisco, Juniper; general support skills. • Familiarity working under strict change control. • Familiarity with IBM Power hardware, Cisco enterprise networking, Juniper firewalls.
