Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Site Manager to join our team to support abandoned mine opportunities in the North.  We are looking for staff who have experience managing northern active and abandoned mines or heavy civil construction sites at a general manager level and are exceptional safety leaders. The successful candidate will provide direction, expertise and technical assistance to a team managing ongoing site administration and operations at unique northern abandoned mines. 

This position works shifts of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.  This role includes paid travel to and from the site as well as housing accommodations, but employees are responsible for providing their own food/meals.   

What You'll Be Doing:

Overall Site Management as required to facilitate the delivery of the Faro Mine Remediation Project (FMRP)  

EH&S at the Mine Site as per the Mine Health & Safety Act and Yukon Occupational Health and Safety Regulations  

Ensuring environmental awareness and compliance with federal and territorial regulations and guidelines  

Maintaining Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) systems, inspections, and audits  

Supporting the Project Socio-Economic Strategy  

Setting expectations for Quality  

Reviewing and analyzing SOPs  

Leading a team of staff to provide Site Services including Environmental and Geotechnical Management, Health & Safety and Security.  

Leading contact between Parsons and the owner’s operational leadership team with respect to EHS  

Working constructively to ensure a collaborative and cooperative team approach with knowledgeable and timely input and contribution.  

Supporting the objectives and responsibilities of all other management and leadership staff;  

Managing site staff to implement and carry out work that helps the project and organization achieve its desired outcomes by providing Basic supervision; Technical direction; Motivation; Career progression; Performance feedback  

Determining, planning for and prioritizing the Work  

Ensuring that the necessary resources are identified, made available and brought to bear in a timely manner  

Managing within the Work, within budget, so as to ensure maximum value for expenditures  

Monitoring team performance  

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

At least 12 years’ cumulative demonstrated work experience related to heavy civil construction; and/or mine remediation/mine closure; and/or mining; and/or heavy industrial facility operations demonstrating either 12 years in a senior role or progressively more senior roles across the duration of the resource’s experience; and  

Minimum 8 years of overall supervisory experience in heavy civil construction; and/or mine remediation/mine closure; and/or mining; and/or heavy industrial facility operations; and  

Minimum 3 years of senior level supervisory experience of multidisciplinary team including supervision of other managers and responsibility for enforcing site wide management plans related to operations, environmental protection and health and safety; and  

At least three (3) projects or three (3) years’ combined experience, in the last 5 years prior to the closing date of the solicitation demonstrating the resource’s experience in effectively managing a large workforce, sub-trades and contractors; and  

Demonstrated extensive understanding through experience of safety and environmental regulations  

Valid Class 5 Drivers License 

This management position is expected to achieve Mine Rescue Certification, if physically able, and to maintain the certification  


What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

Experience with projects in Northern locations (defined as north of 60 degrees latitude) with freeze protection and permafrost knowledge 

Valid Journeyperson’s ticket, related technical diploma, Project Management Professional, or relevant engineering certification valid in any Canadian province or territory (P.Eng.), or geological degree (P.Geo.) 

20 years or more of demonstrated work experience related to construction or mine remediation / mine closure or mining experience  

Demonstrated expertise in working with detailed project design drawings and design specifications  

Demonstrated proficiency in scheduling, workflow tracking, reporting and analysis through detailed description of experience and expertise 

BC Mine Supervisor Certification or equivalent  

Demonstrated strong leadership and team building abilities through detailed description of experience
