Critical Facility Manager - Data Centers - Site Lead
 

Position Overview

JLL is seeking an experienced Critical Facility Manager to oversee the operations and maintenance of mission-critical data center infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring 99.99%+ uptime, managing complex MEP systems, and leading a team of technicians to maintain optimal performance of critical environments supporting our clients' digital infrastructure needs.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

Oversee 24/7/365 operations of data center facilities ensuring maximum uptime and reliability

Monitor and manage critical systems including UPS, generators, HVAC, fire suppression, and building management systems (BMS)

Conduct regular facility rounds and system inspections to identify potential issues proactively

Manage preventive maintenance schedules and coordinate corrective maintenance activities

Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, and other industry standards

Team Leadership

Lead and develop a team of 8-12 critical facility technicians and engineers

Provide technical training and mentorship to ensure team competency on all critical systems

Manage shift schedules, on-call rotations, and emergency response protocols

Conduct performance reviews and support career development initiatives

Client Relations & Service Delivery

Serve as primary point of contact for data center clients regarding facility operations

Prepare and present monthly facility performance reports and KPI dashboards

Coordinate client access, installations, and maintenance activities

Ensure adherence to SLA requirements and client-specific operational procedures

Risk Management & Compliance

Develop and maintain emergency response procedures and business continuity plans

Conduct root cause analysis for any facility incidents or outages

Ensure compliance with local codes, OSHA regulations, and environmental standards

Manage vendor relationships and oversee contractor safety programs

Coordinate annual facility audits and maintain industry certifications

Budget & Financial Management

Develop annual operational budgets and manage facility P&L responsibility

Optimize energy efficiency and implement cost-reduction initiatives

Oversee capital improvement projects and equipment lifecycle management

Track and report on facility metrics including PUE, energy consumption, and maintenance costs

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related technical field “Meister”

Minimum 5+ years of experience managing critical facility operations (data centers preferred)

3+ years of supervisory experience leading technical teams

Experience with Tier III/IV data center environments

Technical Skills

Expert knowledge of UPS systems (500kW+), emergency generators, and power distribution

Proficiency with precision cooling systems, chillers, and HVAC controls

Experience with fire suppression systems

Working knowledge of BMS platforms (Schneider, Johnson Controls, Siemens)

Understanding of electrical systems up to 15kV and load transfer procedures
