Job Description

Work Arrangement

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Lansing, MI on a full-time basis.

The Role

General Motors is looking for Human Resources (HR) and Labor Relations (LR) professionals who are excited to help lead in the HR/LR space. As a Site HR/LR Lead, you will be responsible for delivery of HR and LR services at our Customer Care & Aftersales (CCA) Processing Center in Lansing, MI which employs approximately 200 people. 

In addition to providing daily support on HR and LR activities, you will provide leadership and direction that supports our General Motors’ mission, culture, and objectives.  You will work strategically with assigned functional business leaders to improve working relationships, build engagement, increase output, and attract and retain talent.  You will also have responsibility for some site safety related activities.

Responsibilities:

Partner with the Plant Manager in driving GM culture, promoting positive employee experiences and improving employee engagementPromote a positive working relationship with the union through consistent application of local and national agreementsNegotiate and implement local and national agreementsParticipate in Joint Leadership Meetings and activitiesEnsure adherence to the Grievance ProcedureProvide HR leadership for the site (i.e. talent planning, performance management, compensation planning, recruiting and selection, etc.)Ensure compliance to policy and support investigations of employee concernsManage hourly, contract and salaried employment administrationFacilitate training on HR policies, HR/LR procedures and contractual agreements including the UAW Local and National agreementsSupport Plant Safety performance and cultureSupport People Involvement and implementation of our Global Manufacturing System (GMS)

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in HR, LR, business or a related field3-5 years of experience providing HR and/or LR support to an organizationAbility to maintain confidentiality regarding HR/LR mattersExperience working in a union environment, negotiating, and resolving conflictsOrganized, able to work independently, meet deadlines and thrive in an ambiguous environmentHighly proficient analytical and project management skillsStrong Interpersonal SkillsExcellent written and verbal communications skillsProficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and HR applications (e.g. Workday, etc.)

Preferred

Master’s degree in HR, LR, business or related fieldExperience in Warehouse, Manufacturing, Operation or Distribution
