JOB PURPOSE

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the largest Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies worldwide and become part of an enthusiastic and brand-driven team in the Burton Unilever factory.

The site Engineering Manager will lead the technical agenda and be responsible for leading the engineering team to deliver Line Performance, equipment reliability and utilities reliability across site.  They will be expected to ensure regulatory compliance, upskill the team and improve site performance. This role includes being on site leadership team and will play an active part in the development of the site masterplan, site culture and strategic development

Ensure Regulatory ComplianceLead Process Safety AgendaSupport Occupational Safety AgendaSupport Quality and Food Safety AgendaLead, manage and develop the engineering team across site covering Reliability, Shift and UtilitiesLead on site projects engineers ensuring projects are deliver on time, in full and in budgetDevelop saving programs to reduce cost by +5% year on year across utilities, R&M and othersEnsure development of key skillsets needed in Engineering across the site e.g. automation, mechanical, electrical etcImprove the site efficiency by developing and executing plans to improve maintenance, root cause analysis and developing improvement projects in line with the UMS (Unilever Manufacturing System) approachSupport the agenda to drive down waste on siteStrategic structure and governance to reduce breakdowns on siteAchieve quality and food safety standards in line with the site and Unilever guidelinesDevelop and deploy a continuous learning and upskilling program for the engineering teamResponsible for R&M budgetResponsible for control of Engineering Stores & financial controlLead the recruitment strategy for the Engineering teamResponsible for ensuring the capital budget exercise is done annually and ensure the project management is done in accordance to the business objectivesResponsible to drive the decarbonisation agenda across factoryResponsible for maintaining all the essential documents for the statutory and regulatory requirements and timely renewing of neededResponsible to driving the agenda of digital strategy for the factory in coordination with plant manager and other stakeholdersResponsible for developing and working with suppliers vendors and contractors to deliver the engineering and project strategy following required code of business conduct

Experience Required

FMCG – Within a MultinationalEngineering background having both practical and applied knowledgeExperience leading a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and techniciansExperience with managing capex projectsTrack record of delivering results through their team using advanced manufacturing techniques (E.g. WCM/TPM/Lean)Understanding and experience of regulatory requirements

Professional Qualifications:

Professional Registration ideally CEng or as minimum IEng working toward CEng

Education Minimum HNC Preferable degree or other higher qualification.

Qualifications is Safety, Quality, Project management, CDM are desirable

Recruitment Fraud 

Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs.  These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate. 

How is Unilever tackling this? 

Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
