HDR is currently seeking a Site Civil Engineering CAD Lead for our Building Engineering Services (BES) Business Group located in Denver, CO. The BES team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural, Controls, and Site Civil Engineering.The BES Site Civil team currently consists of 15 staff across 2 offices and continues to grow We work with both internal and external clients on multidisciplinary teams.
Primary Responsibilities
This person will be responsible for directing the site civil team in all aspects of CAD design of facility-related sites in support of the full variety of markets that HDR supports. They will providedrafting instruction in both theory and process for land development elements, including water, sanitary, and sewer networks; grading; details; drafting standards; and other related topics. They will assist with task breakdown, workload distribution across the team, and scheduling. Quality control is of the utmost importance and this person will be expected to maintain a high standard for all team work products. This person will not serve in a supervisory capacity; they will support the technical development of all team members but will not have any direct reports.
In the role of Site Civil Engineering CAD Lead, we'll count on you to:
Provide direction for the site civil team, along with managing the digital model environmentand deliverables at the project levelPossess an advanced understanding of how all disciplines interact and constructiondocuments are producedWork directly with the Project Manager to assist in generating and maintaining the DigitalDelivery Plan (DDP) and project initiation procedure, establishing the server infrastructure, discipline models, and digital deliverables outlined in the project scopeSupport production teams throughout the complete lifecycle of projectsProvide technical support while communicating the deliverable schedule to the projectteamTo maintain quality, this individual will monitor the model health and coordinationprocesses of the project, from the planning phase through construction documentsExecute these tasks autonomously and also mentor and provide guidance to other teammembersMonitor and oversee the establishment of the document management system and help maintain the server infrastructure for multi-discipline projectsEnsure the team has the appropriate software, versions, access, and training needed toexecute the project requirementsGenerate and maintain model setup including project information, coordinates, scales,orientations, scope boundaries, match-lines, views, sheets, and general models, to accommodate the disciplines and project requirementsMonitor and maintain company standards and model healthHost Digital Delivery coordination meetings with the Digital Design team to ensure optimal quality control through Design Reviews and 3D Coordination processesCommunicate, coordinate, and compile all project digital deliverables and exchange process at predetermined milestonesProject archiving at submittals and closeoutEngage in close and effective communication and presentations with HDR management,production staff, and clientsMentor staff to help develop their skillsetsProvide guidance for Project Managers to support project needsEngage with other Digital Delivery Leads to provide support and guidancePreferred Qualifications
History of a commitment to technical excellencePrevious experience with teaching/guiding junior staffWorking knowledge of modeling software such as Hydraflow Storm Sewers, Hydraflow Hydrographs, HydroCAD, Bentley StormCAD or similar softwarePrevious experience with an architectural/engineering firmPreference given to local candidates#LI-MV3
Required QualificationsTechnical degree or a combination of education and relevant experienceA minimum of 5 years digital design (BIM element authoring) and 5 years digital delivery (model management) experienceComprehensive understanding of all discipline relations and operations of building systems Advanced skillset of 3D design software and document management infrastructureAdvanced skillset of 3D Coordination toolsAdvanced skillset of Microsoft Office products and communication toolsFamiliar with industry standards and practices, along with discipline codes and specificationsFamiliar with basic automation and programming applications for efficienciesFamiliar with 3D design software add-ins and supporting applicationsFamiliar with content creation and management conceptsSuperior client service, communication, and presentation skills are essentialDemonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively serve as a first line of technical supportExcellent communication skills, attention to detail and leadership traits are essentialMust have strong organizational skills to establish priorities between technical support requests and project workMust be enthusiastic, energetic, and an excellent work ethic
