The Position

A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love.

That’s what makes us Roche.

In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed.

Join the RNAHub, an interdisciplinary initiative within pRED’s Therapeutic Modalities (TMo) NABM team, dedicated to advancing oligonucleotide therapeutics (ONTs). We are a dynamic, collaborative group of scientists tackling complex challenges in ONT research through cross-functional innovation.

You are a cross-disciplinary specialist in the chemistry and design of siRNA therapeutics and are keen to apply your deep scientific expertise to the advancement and development of our ONT discovery pipeline. The ideal candidate will both lead drug discovery project teams as well as support them with the aforementioned skills, guaranteeing successful translation of novel ideas into innovative products.
In addition, this role is closely connected to the activities in the RNAHub’s technology platforms as well as our ability to bridge internal science and external developments, thereby ensuring we are staying at the cutting edge of the oligonucleotide therapeutics field.

The opportunity

Design innovative siRNA candidate libraries for early research and development projects as well as platform technology activities.

Drive the continuous adoption and modernization of our chemistry strategy including the exploration of target or project specific aspects.

Collaborate with our scientific expert network within and beyond the RNAHub on all aspects of siRNA design, chemistry, screening and selection.

Lead cross-functional discovery project teams in their journey from target idea to clinical candidate selection.

Contribute to the solution of the Grand Challenges of the siRNA field by supporting, driving and co-creating the RNAHub’s technology platform landscape.

Support the various approaches to tap into external innovation including scouting, due diligence and feasibility assessments.

Who you are

Your academic education has evolved around aspects of oligonucleotide (preferred siRNA) design and/or chemistry (ideally both) within the fields of RNA biology, Chemistry or Biochemistry and you have attained a PhD in the relevant field.

You have at least 5 years of experience in working in an industrial R&D and drug discovery environment related to ONTs with proven track record of science-related project execution, including ideation, planning, decision making, problem solving, stakeholder management and successful closure.
