Signing Assistant

About this opportunity

 

Reporting to the Production Manager for the Signing team, Signing Production Assistants work with various teams within Access Services to provide comprehensive support for all aspects of sign-interpreted programme production, including research, media tracking, programme transmission, and administrative duties.

There is one assistant team within Access Services with varying duties and responsibilities.

 

Key Duties

 

Liaise with clients and media management to obtain media, scripts and other materials as promptly as possible for subtitling, audio description and signingPrepare scripts as appropriate to make the subtitling process more efficientManage the ingest and delivery of mediaInput client schedules into the in-house scheduling system and responds to schedule changesDaily checks of schedulesAdmin tasks associated with allocation changes as directed by the Duty Manager (DM)Liaise with technical teams where necessary to assist the DMManaging Dentons and language control for live subtitlingAdditional monitoring of output as directed by the DMBuild and maintain contact lists and databases relating to contributors, programme content and production schedulesProvide operational assistance as required both in the production and transmission of sign-interpreted programmes and for live and pre-recorded programmesAct as a focal point for the Sign Language Translation (SLT) team, and to undertake the maintenance of all records and systems used by the teamDeliver files and materials to clients, reliably and to a deadlineCreate and maintain rotas for Access Services production and support teams, responding to queries as necessaryProcess administrative requests for Access Services teamsWork with operations schedulers/managers in the allocation of services to third-party suppliersManage the workflow for freelancers and other external suppliers,  providing materials and media as necessary

 

 

Key Skills & Abilities

 

Demonstrable administrative experience including accurate record-keeping and maintaining scheduling systems/databasesAn awareness of and interest in the work of Ericsson/Red Bee Media and Access Services and their clientsAn interest in and knowledge of a wide range of television outputExperience of working in a customer-focused environmentAbility to use own initiative, work flexibly and/or adapt to changing circumstancesAbility to work under pressure to deadlinesDemonstrable effective time management, organisational skills, accuracy and meticulous attention to detailAbility to create and maintain good working relationshipsExperience of working successfully as an integral part of a teamExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBasic knowledge of Excel; experience of working with new technology and equipmentAn awareness or/interest  in working with Deaf colleagues and contributors

 

Desirable Skills & Abilities specific to Signing Assistant role

 

Proficiency in or willingness to learn British Sign LanguageKnowledge of Deaf culture and awareness
