Amergis Educational Staffing is hiring Sign Language Interpreters for the current school year!
Location: Onslow County Schools, NC
Job Type: Full-Time
Contract Length: 2025-2026 School Year
About the Role
The Educational Sign Language Interpreter supports staff, students, and families by providing interpretation and translation services for deaf and hearing-impaired students. The interpreter also effectively facilitates communication between students who use sign language due to hearing loss, and students/teachers who do not.
Key Responsibilities: Provide real-time sign language interpretation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students during classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings. Translate spoken language into sign language and vice versa to facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and peers. Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to support student learning and inclusion. Help bridge communication between families and school personnel to support student success. Support students in developing self-advocacy and communication skills.
Qualifications: State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certificate Must have EIPA score: 3.5 Licensure from the RID or TEC Unit plus 5 years of experience in educational setting Annually complete 20 hours of professional development related to interpreting approved by local education agency
