Sign Language Interpreter (Long-Term Substitute) - Madera, CA Location: Madera, CA Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM–3:45 PM (35 hours/week) Duration: ASAP – March 30, 2025 (possibility of extension) Estimated Start Date: February 2, 2026 About the Opportunity Amergis is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter for a long-term substitute assignment providing one-on-one support to a student who communicates exclusively through sign. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring consistent access to instruction, communication, and behavioral support in a structured classroom environment. You will collaborate closely with the classroom team to maintain continuity of support and foster an accessible, safe, and inclusive learning experience. Key Responsibilities + Provide accurate, responsive 1:1 sign language interpretation for a student whose primary communication mode is sign. + Facilitate communication between the student, classroom staff, and peers. + Implement and follow all components of the student’s Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP). + Uphold professionalism, confidentiality, and alignment with classroom expectations. + Support a structured, positive, and inclusive learning environment. Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in ASL or passage of the EIPA exam. + Experience interpreting in educational or youth-focused environments preferred. + Ability to work with students who have behavioral or communication needs. + Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills. + Dependability and a student-centered approach.
