We’re looking for a hybrid Show Director in the art and cultural events industry.
Our client is a recognized leader in producing high-profile art fairs and cultural experiences that bring together artists, galleries, collectors, sponsors, and global audiences. Known for curatorial excellence, commercial impact, and community engagement, this organization delivers world-class live events that shape the contemporary art landscape. The Show Director is an existing position and will be responsible for the full strategic, commercial, and operational leadership of two major international art shows, from vision through execution.
Show Director responsibilities: Develop and execute the overall vision, strategy, and long-term growth plans for major art fairs and exhibitions Provide end-to-end leadership for live events, including scheduling, logistics, production, venue coordination, and on-site execution Lead exhibitor sales and recruitment, identifying new markets and commercial opportunities to drive revenue growth Oversee sponsorship strategy, including assessing opportunities, approving contracts, managing activations, and ensuring sponsor obligations are met Direct VIP programs, including evaluating past performance, building strategic alliances, and overseeing VIP lounge design, construction, and on-site experience Collaborate with artists, curators, galleries, and stakeholders to deliver compelling, innovative, and high-quality programming Manage and mentor cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment, accountability, and seamless delivery under tight timelines Build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, partners, community organizations, and industry leaders Partner with marketing teams to support campaigns that drive attendance, exhibitor engagement, and brand visibility Own event budgets and financial performance, ensuring fiscal discipline while delivering premium experiences Ensure compliance with legal, safety, accessibility, and operational standards The successful candidate has: 5+ years of senior-level experience in art fairs, cultural events, exhibitions, or large?scale live event management A bachelor’s degree in Art, Event Management, Business Administration, or a related field (master’s degree considered an asset) Proven experience leading complex, high-profile events with multiple stakeholders and revenue streams Strong commercial acumen, including exhibitor sales, sponsorship, and budget management Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills A strong understanding of contemporary art practices, cultural trends, and the creative industries Compensation and benefits: The discussed salary range is $130,000 – $140,000 depending on experience Performance-based bonus opportunities Candidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be considered Comprehensive benefits package Hybrid work model based in Toronto Opportunity to shape flagship art events with a globally respected organizationCandidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
