The Prototyping Manufacturing and Integration Division (PMID) of Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc., has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Shop Floor Technician working on-site at our Huntsville, AL facility. Shop Floor Technician is responsible to support the manufacturing of mechanical prototype devices and/or products. Will operate machinery such as but not limited to forklift, pallet jacks and various hand tools used in production process. Under direct supervision, the Shop Floor Tech will be responsible to support the logistics and transportation team performing various shop floor duties. Must have the ability to read technical manuals - including blueprints and schematics.

This position will require a background check and must have the ability to obtain & maintain a SECRET clearance from the US Department of War.

 Seeking in a Shop Floor Technician:

H.S. diploma or G.E.D., plus advanced training and 2-3 years’ experience in manufacturing Applied working knowledge of utilizing hand tools, power tools and measurement tools Must have familiarity with mechanical systems and safe work practices Assists with cleaning up sites, and disposing of waste, as well as helping with any other needs Cleans shops and yard to maintain appearance and safety Operates or assists forklift drivers in transporting materials Familiarity with technical manuals - including blueprints, schematics and or sketches Safely utilize tools and hardware using standard fabrication shop practices Ability to function as an integral part of a team Ability to sit &/or stand for long periods of time, stand, sit, stoop, bend, crouch, crawl, climb, hold and move items with hand, multilimbed coordination, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, push and pull, vision for near and distance, and lifting 50lbs independently, and over 50lbs with assistance Be physically capable of wearing all required personal protective equipment to include, but not limited to safety glasses, respirator, safety shoes, hearing protection and hand protection as required Be a U.S. Citizen
