Position

SAS has an opening for a Full-Time Shoe Last Model Maker.  This position is responsible for working with the Last team to assume the duties associated with last making and to perform additional support duties as assigned within the department when not performing last making tasks.

Job Responsibilities

Woodworking, hand carving and filing to finish wooden model shoe lastsWorking with filler materials to re-form shapesOperating digital lathe to turn shoe lastsOperating cutting equipment to separate and hinge lastsPattern drafting to make gauges and templatesOperating 2D/3D CAD shoe last programGeneral workshop and administration tasksHelping with deliveries and packagingOrganizing product samplesAssisting with sample model making and last production needs

 

Useful Experience:  

10 years experience in last model makingPower tool usage aptitude/experienceComputer Assisted Drawing experience/knowledgeMicrosoft Office suite experience to include Outlook, Word, and ExcelBe organized

A self-starter who enjoys taking on new challenges to expand his/her role.Mature, responsible and self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic.Willing to get involved in anything and everything with an “It Can Be Done” attitude.Able to multi-task handling several projects, while working independently or with a teamAbility to work in a fast-paced, open workspace environment.Highly motivated and able to follow instructions.Must be detail oriented and able to work with numbers.Must have absolute ability to exercise confidentiality.Excellent job performance and attendance.Bilingual a plus

 

Physical Requirements:

Physical labor is necessary for 8 hours or more per day with breaks approximately every two hours including sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, stooping, and kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, talking, hearing, seeing and engaging in repetitive motions.
