Job Description SummaryThis position involves overseeing the shipping and receiving processes, including verifying and keeping records of incoming and outgoing shipments, preparing items for shipment, and maintaining inventory and tracking of shipping materials. The role requires proficiency in using various technologies, such as CMMS, FedEx, UPS, Outlook, and iPhones to process orders. The employee will determine shipment methods, pack items, affix shipping labels, and ensure outgoing shipments meet specifications. Additional duties include handling incoming mail, driving a company vehicle to various locations in Boston and surrounding areas, and assisting General Maintenance Technicians as needed. The role requires strong organizational skills, physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, and a customer service-oriented attitude.Job DescriptionSchedule: Monday-Friday (7:00am-3:30pm).Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.Utilizes various technologies including but not limited to computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), FedEx, UPS, Outlook email, and Iphone for the purpose of processing shipping/receiving orders.Determine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipment.Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers, packages items into containers using appropriate packing materials.Affix identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.Post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage.Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.Receive, deliver and route items to various locations.  May require driving company vehicle from various locations in Boston, Cambridge, and S. Boston.Follows customer’s standard operating procedures (SOP’s) related to regulated process.Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.Maintain inventory and tracking of shipping materials and supplies.May use hand truck and dolly to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area.May require lifting and/or moving objects in excess of 50 pounds and pushing up to 100 pounds.Other duties as assigned which may include providing assistance to General Maintenance Technicians. Handle incoming mail from US Post Office, FedEx and UPS.Perform mail runs to pick up mail/packages.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED.Valid Driver’s License.2+ years of relevant experience.Customer service and professional.Self-starter, motivated, team player with the ability to prioritize work.Demonstrated willingness and ability to work independently and productively and to accept direction.Highly organized and excellent record-keeping abilities.Ability to frequently move and lift 50+ pounds.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.International Air Transport Association (IATA) certification preferred but not required.
