The Shipping Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of the shipping department by partnering with scheduling, operations, and freight providers to ensure the on-time delivery of product to customers.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
The Shipping / Warehouse Manager leads the Forklift Operators in the daily routine of loading trucks neatly and to the customers’ complete satisfactionEnsure the compliance of all department employees and processes with all food safety and quality regulations (SQF, HACCP); ISO regulations; and all applicable OSHA and DOT regulationsEnsure the warehouse properties, systems, and practices are compliant with all Risk Management and insurance requirementsManage the relationship with the leasing agent / landlord of our warehousing facilitiesMaintain the proper inventory of all pallet types used for finished goods shipment and storageManage the shipping and receiving teams, and assure compliance with all WestRock policies and proceduresCoordinate with 3rd party freight provider to schedule runs in the most cost-efficient and time-saving manner possibleMaintain the relationship with local trucking and shuttling services, FedEx, and UPS service providersEstablish high morale within department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problemsEnsure proper workplace cleanliness, organization and all 5S standards are maintained Drive continuous improvement in procedures and practices, to drive out safety and quality risks from the processes as well as optimize operational efficienciesParticipate in internal and corporate audits and inventory reconciliationsImprove the overall morale of the plant by inclusion, teamwork, coaching and mentoring teamDrive Lean and continuous improvement processesPartner with the reliability manager to maintain leased properties and WestRock equipment in good working order Prepare work orders for and coordinate repairs of trucks, trailers, forklifts, dock plates, and dock doorsProvides leadership and coaching to ensure that projects are completed on time and that the team provides value to its customersMay be asked to manage other departments or function groups as development opportunities and to balance team workloadWhat you need to succeed:
Strong leadership skills required; 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing facilityPrevious experience in a warehouse / Shipping Department/and or Inventory ControlProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, AS400 System)Strategic & Tactical Planning, problem solving, mentoringData Analysis, understanding of statistical methodsExcellent organization skills and attention to detail requiredEffective process management skillsExcellent verbal, written and communication skillsExperience in Change Management Innovative mindsetCollege Degree strongly preferred; must have high school diploma or equivalent

The salary range for this position is $78,000.00 - $130,000.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 10 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
