Shipping Forklift Operator

The Opportunity:

As a Shipping Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating forklifts to move, load, and unload materials and products within the shipping area of a manufacturing facility. This role ensures that goods are prepared for shipment, accurately documented, and handled with care to maintain quality standards.

Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport products between storage, production, and shipping areas.Load and unload trucks, ensuring shipments are correctly placed and secured for transport.Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy and damage and report discrepancies to supervisors.Maintain shipping records, including bills of lading, packing lists, and inventory logs.Assist with packaging and labeling of products for shipment as needed.Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.Follow instructions closely and maintain strong attention to detail to support on time delivery

Work week starts 3rd shift Sunday night:

3rd shift 11pm – 7am1st shift 7am – 3pm2nd shift 3pm – 11pm

 

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

Assist in the timely movement of product to support on time in full commitments to our customers.Assess units to ensure proper documentation, load appearance and quality of product.Act as the last line of contact between product and customer receipt.

 

What you need to succeed:

Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team setting or individually2-3 years proven and consistent work backgroundAbility to work any shift in a 3-shift environment as well as up to 4 hours overtime either before or after scheduled shift up to 12 hours. (both daily and/or weekend)Consistent and dependable attendanceAbility to work in a non-climate-controlled environment that is hot and humid in the Summer/Fall and cold in Spring/Winter.Ability to perform repetitive motions, involving turning at waist, reaching, lifting, push/pull up to 50 lbs., navigating stairs, stand, walk, and bend throughout the entire shift with or without reasonable accommodation.Prior shipping, warehouse or manufacturing forklift experience is preferredAll job offers are contingent upon successful completion of background checks and pre-employment drug testing.Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and inventory managementStrong attention to detail and good communication skills.
