Position Overview

We’re seeking skilled Shipfitters to join our team at a dynamic local shipyard. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for laying out, fabricating, and assembling metal structural components—such as plates, bulkheads, and frames—within the hull of ships. You’ll work from blueprints and templates to ensure precision, using a variety of tools and techniques to align, secure, and prepare parts for welding or riveting.

Key ResponsibilitiesFabricate and position metal structural components for ship constructionRead and interpret blueprints and templates to determine layoutUse jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, and other tools to align parts accuratelyMark drilling locations and install temporary fastenersInstall gaskets, liners, packing, and structural accessories (e.g., doors, hatches)Prepare molds and templates for custom or nonstandard partsTack weld clips and brackets prior to final weldingRoll, bend, flange, cut, and shape heavy metal parts such as beams and platesRequired Skills & ExperienceMinimum 3 years of experience as a ShipfitterStrong blueprint reading and interpretation skillsProficient in using hand tools and shipfitting equipmentExperience with tack welding, metal cutting, and part alignmentAdditional Qualifications

Familiarity with framing squares, combination squares, hammers, clamps

Comfortable using safety gear: hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toe boots

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $30.00/hr.
