Job Description Director – Shipbroking (Dubai, UAE) – Confidential Opportunity
Do you lead with strategic vision, commercial acumen and a deep understanding of shipbroking and chartering? An opportunity has arisen for a seasoned and motivated professional to shape and lead a high-performing shipbroking arm in one of the world’s foremost maritime hubs.
About the Role
Lead and scale a newly independent shipbroking business following a separation from a larger group Great investment and support from a massive port official. Develop, refine, and implement growth strategies in wet markets, DPP, CPP, chemicals, veg-oils. Build and manage strong relationships with shipowners, charterers, cargo principals, agents, and operators. Oversee and enhance the full broking and chartering lifecycle—from business development and negotiations to fixture execution and client servicing. Key Responsibilities Define and execute the strategic vision and business plan for the shipbroking division. Grow revenue and margin across multiple cargo segments and charter types. Lead, mentor, and build an agile, client-focused team in Dubai. Maintain a robust network with global counterparts, local port authorities and maritime stakeholders. Monitor market trends and competitor strategies; adjust offerings and positioning accordingly. Ensure adherence to professional shipping standards, compliance and best practices in all operations. Candidate Profile Senior shipbroking professional with a proven track record (minimum 15+ years recommended) in leadership roles. Demonstrated success in running or scaling a shipbroking or chartering desk/division. In-depth market expertise across DPP/CPP, wetbulk, chemicals, veg-oils. Strong commercial negotiation and client relationship skills. Experience operating in, or leadership from, Dubai or Middle Eastern markets is highly desirable. Strategic thinker with robust leadership, people-management, and business development capabilities. Professional credentials such as membership of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and relevant academic qualifications would be advantageous—but not essential.
