Sheetmetal Fitter 3rd Shift

As a Sheetmetal Journeyperson at BAE Systems, you will play a critical role in ship sheetmetal phases, working on the front lines to deliver life saving products to the U.S military. As a Sheetmetal Journeyperson, you will: + Work onboard Navy and Commercial ships. + Assembles, removes, installs and repair sheetmetal products and equipment such as HVAC ducting, furniture, nonstructural bulkhead systems and ceiling systems. + Performs renovations of heads, berthing spaces and food service areas. + Operates a variety of hand and power tools. + Plan, layout, fabricate, assemble, install and repair sheet metal parts for the repair and modernization of US Navy vessels. + Utilize equipment including hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment. + Sets up and operates fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls and routers to cut, bend, lock and form, or straighten materials. + Trims, files, grinds, deburrs, buffs and smooths surfaces using hand tools and portable power tools. Welds, solders, bolts, rivets, screws, clips, caulks, or bonds component parts to assemble products, using hand tools, power tools and equipment. + Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to specification. + May install furniture such as air-conditioning and heating, ventilation ducting, cabinets, shelves and other equipment on board ships. + Performs related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position. + Must be able to work within a team-based environment to accomplish all aspects of ship fitting and welding fabrication. + Candidates may be required to travel to differentsites or Naval Bases. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** + Minimum 3 years Sheetmetal Fitting or Mechanic experience + Must understand the layout of the ship and compartment identification + Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and military specifications + Must be able to obtain and maintain a DBIDS pass. + Ability to interpret and understand NAVSEA drawings/blueprints. + Good communication and good interpersonal skills. + Must possess basic reading, writing and mathematical skills. Physical Requirements: + Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position. + Must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces and can climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes. + Must be able to carry personal tool bag weighing anywhere from 20-30 lbs. **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + Weld Certification + Ultrasonic Impact Testing Treatment (UIT Treatment) certification + Carbon steel certification + Passing grade on breaking test + Certification in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), also known as manual metal arc welding (MMA or MMAW), flux shielded arc welding or informally as stick welding (manual arc welding process that uses a consumable electrode covered with a flux to lay the weld) + Certification in flux-cored arc welding (FCAW or FCA) (a semi-automatic or automatic arc welding process) **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $59800 - $91645 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
