Summary This SHEET METAL MECHANIC (SMALL SHOP CHIEF) position is part of the CA AASF Stockton. Responsibilities THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION. The primary purpose of the SHEET METAL MECHANIC (SMALL SHOP CHIEF), WG-3806-11, is to is to serve as shop chief over a small organizational segment in the Logistics function of the Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF)/Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD) with responsibility for the overall shop operation. Oversees and directs the work of one or more Sheet Metal Mechanics (Aircraft), WG-3806-10, who are assigned to the shop. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance. Requirements Conditions of Employment CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Priority Area of Consideration: Consideration is given to the area below: AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment. Military Grades: E-5 or E-7. Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive IS NOT authorized. PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest. Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Security Clearance: at a minimum a National Agency Check is required. Qualifications General Experience: Possess experience or training that has provided you with the ability to plan, manufacture, and install cylindrical, square, or rectangular-shaped objects that have easily constructed fastenings such as single and double-hem edges and single, double or grooved seams. SHEET METAL MECHANIC (SMALL SHOP CHIEF), WG-3806-11: Must have at least 18 months experience or training in planning, layout, and construction skills to manufacture items and systems with dovetailed seams, set-in-bottom seams, burred-bottom seams, or wired or lock seams; Experience using more complicated shop tools and equipment; Experience in using metals including stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb material and alloys; Experience demonstrating the use of more complicated mathematical calculations and complicated measuring instruments.
