ServiceNow Developer, Contractor

Position Overview:  

The ServiceNow Developer (Contractor) will be responsible for supporting Extenet’s in-house transition of the Network Operations Center (NOC) team through the design, development, and implementation of ServiceNow solutions. This role will focus on building workflows, automation, and operational reporting to improve efficiency and ensure a seamless transition. The contractor will collaborate closely with IT, NOC leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to align ServiceNow capabilities with business needs. This position reports directly to the Director of Business Process Office, with dotted-line collaboration to NOC leadership.

Responsibilities:  

ServiceNow Development: Design, configure, and implement ServiceNow solutions to support the in-house NOC transition, with a focus on ITSM, ITOM, and operational workflows. Process Automation: Develop and deploy automation strategies to streamline NOC operations, reduce manual intervention, and improve efficiency. Workflow Design: Create and maintain process workflows, integrations, and reporting dashboards to support daily NOC functions. System Architecture & Design: Contribute to solution architecture by designing scalable ServiceNow applications, ensuring alignment with best practices, system performance, and integration requirements. Technical Leadership: Provide architectural guidance and technical expertise on ServiceNow design patterns, coding standards, and module implementations. Custom Development: Build and maintain custom applications, scripts, business rules, UI policies, client scripts, and integrations within the ServiceNow platform. Integration Management: Develop and manage integrations between ServiceNow and external systems using REST, SOAP, and other web services. Data Integrity: Support IT-related data accuracy across CMDB, Hardware Asset Management (HAM), and Software Asset Management (SAM). Collaboration: Partner with IT, NOC, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, review architecture, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives. System Enhancements: Lead the design and development of ServiceNow enhancements, ensuring scalability and alignment with business goals. Reporting & Presentations: Build and deliver reporting tools and dashboards that communicate performance and transition progress clearly to leadership. Ad Hoc Duties: Undertake additional ServiceNow development or architectural tasks as needed to support the NOC transition and broader IT initiatives. 


Qualifications:  

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; equivalent experience considered. 5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience. Strong background in ITSM and ITOM modules; experience with HAM, SAM, or related ServiceNow applications preferred. Experience with integration technologies (REST, SOAP, XML, JSON) and scripting (JavaScript, Glide, Business Rules, Workflows). Understanding of system architecture, design principles, and their operational impacts. Familiarity with CMDB and asset management practices. Experience leading technical discussions and collaborating with cross-functional teams. ServiceNow Developer or Implementation Specialist certifications preferred. ITILv4 Foundations Certification a plus. 


Skills and Abilities:  

Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of ServiceNow platform architecture, automation, and workflow design. Problem Solving: Ability to analyze requirements and create scalable, efficient technical solutions. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with IT, operations, and leadership teams. Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver results within a contract timeline. Software Proficiency: Expert experience with ServiceNow, Microsoft Office Suite, and related development tools.

Contractor Status: 

This position is a 6–12-month standard W2 contract role with the potential for extension based on project needs and individual performance.
