Service Technician
**Position Summary:** As a Service Technician, you will assemble, test, and automate valve and control packages to meet production specifications within our Gladstone workshop. You will work hands‑on with mechanical and flow control equipment, contribute to safe and high‑quality operational outcomes, and help maintain a clean, well‑organized workspace. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, solving mechanical challenges, and contributing to a culture focused on safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement. **In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:** + Assemble a variety of valves, actuators, positioners, and related flow control equipment according to standard procedures and engineering documentation. + Test manual and automated valves, pump equipment, and control packages using hand tools, power tools, and workshop test rigs. + Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform repairs or refurbishments on mechanical and automated valves. + Operate workshop equipment such as lathes, borers, drills, blasting, grinding, painting, and packing tools as required. + Accurately record job times, maintain inventory accuracy, and complete quality documentation (e.g., quality plans). + Maintain a tidy and safe work area, supporting daily housekeeping and equipment upkeep. + Follow all Emerson and customer EHS requirements, participating in toolbox and safety meetings. + Communicate job‑related issues promptly and contribute to collaborative problem solving. + Train Assembly Operators as needed. **Who You Are:** You take on new challenges with energy and enthusiasm, even when the path forward isn’t fully defined. You take responsibility for your commitments and deliver high‑quality work with consistency and pride. **For This Role, You Will Need:** + A Mechanical Trade Certificate or equivalent training. + Skills in mechanical repair, assembly, and refurbishment of flow control equipment. + Ability to interpret drawings, work instructions, and quality procedures. + Experience using hand tools, power tools, and general workshop machinery. + Understanding of quality and safety procedures, including manual handling practices. + A current driver’s license. + Basic computer literacy; ability to use systems such as SAP. + A proactive, safety‑minded approach and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. **Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:** + Forklift certification, First Aid Certificate, and/or Dogging ticket/VOC. + Experience with horizontal lathes or boring equipment. + Valve product knowledge or experience in process operations. + Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. + A record of reliability, punctuality, and positive engagement in team environments. **Our Culture and Commitment To You:** At Emerson, we cultivate an environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute.
