Route 303 City West Nyack State NY Zip Code 10994 Duties Description Perform skilled mechanical work in automotive repair shops in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of gasoline, diesel powered, and alternative fuel self-propelled and non-self-propelled motor-driven equipment and may perform routine maintenance and mechanical repairs on disabled vehicles, construction, and other equipment in the field. Minimum Qualifications GENERAL PUBLIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Four years of experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic responsible for the diagnosis of faulty and/or equipment operation and the performance of mechanical repairs covering several aspects of automotive and/or diesel systemsOR an associate’s degree in automotive or diesel repair technology.Substitution: Education as detailed below may be substituted for a maximum of two years of experience.Graduation from a technical or vocational program, such as B.O.C.E.S, in automotive or diesel technology or automotive or diesel repair technology may be substituted for one year of experience.Graduation from a one-year post high school certificate program in automotive or diesel repair technology may be substituted for up to two years of experience.Possession and maintenance of a CDL Class B license issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles will be required. Candidates applying without a CDL B license are required to obtain a CDL permit within 90 days of appointment and obtain the license by the end of the probationary period. Failure to do so will result in termination.Pursuant to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act, pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be required. Once appointed to/selected for the position, random drug and alcohol testing will be required.Candidates employed in this position will be required to furnish personal hand tools. Additional Comments This is a Unit 1 Teamsters position.
