School District: Manchester Public Schools

Pay Rate: $27.23 per hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM

Job Description

The Service Employee maintains and fuels all school buses, activity, and commercial buses in conjunction with First Student’s Maintenance Department. This position dispenses fuel, checks oil, maintains accurate stick and meter readings, stocks required supplies and equipment, and coordinates the flow of buses to ensure safe operation. Performs light maintenance as necessary to buildings and grounds.

Essential Job Duties

As a Service Employee, your major responsibilities will be to:

Open the gates to the lot and check bus parking areas to ensure all buses can be dispatched in a timely manner; reposition buses that may impede traffic in the yard

Maintain accurate records and complete Bulk Fuel Receiving Reports, Fuel Variance Reports, Closing Month-End Reports, and Meter Calibration Reports

Notify the Location Manager or designee when fuel delivery is required and ensure accurate stick readings are taken before and after delivery

Check and fill oil, antifreeze, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, and inspect belts on buses being fueled

Perform light interior and exterior maintenance on buses as required

Perform other duties or directives as assigned by management

Qualifications / Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent

Knowledge of bus or vehicle maintenance preferred

Ability and willingness to learn maintenance-related skills

Ability to work outdoors and perform physical job duties

Subject to DOT drug testing and physical

DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly wage: $27.23/hr is set per union contract

Union position governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement
