Responsibilities The Opportunity As Server Configuration Data Manager, you are responsible for orchestrating the server CI requirements within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) in ServiceNow. You will ensure that our server landscape is accurately represented, maintained, and compliant throughout its lifecycle. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Asset Management, Configuration Management, and Server Build teams, ensuring smooth alignment of processes and data quality across the organization. Your Impact As Server Configuration Data Manager your responsibilities would consist of: CMDB Accuracy & Integrity: Ensure that all server Configuration Items (CIs) are correctly recorded, maintained, and reflect the appropriate lifecycle phase—from provisioning and active use through decommissioning and retirement. Provisioning Oversight: Own and manage provisioning requests, making sure that all required steps are followed to register and update new server data in the CMDB without gaps or omissions. Compliance Monitoring: Follow up on health tasks generated for non-compliant CIs, working closely with stakeholders to identify and resolve missing attributes, incorrect records, or orphaned servers. Lifecycle Management: Monitor stale or outdated CIs, ensuring that servers no longer in use are transitioned into the proper retired state in a timely manner. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve data quality, processes, and controls, contributing to a more reliable and trustworthy CMDB. Goals: A CMDB that consistently reflects the true server landscape. Streamlined provisioning processes with no missing data. Reduced number of non-compliant and orphaned servers. Accurate lifecycle tracking that supports IT operations, audits, and decision-making. Qualifications Who Are We Looking For? Experience Required Skills: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Strong understanding of Configuration Management principles and ITIL framework. Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with ServiceNow (or similar) and managing server CIs. Familiarity with server lifecycle management (provisioning, operations, decommissioning). Knowledge of infrastructure components (physical, virtual, cloud servers). Familiarity with automation or scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python) is a plus. Non-Technical Skills: Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve data inconsistencies or gaps in the CMDB. Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and completeness of records. Strong communication skills to align stakeholders and drive process adoption Ability to work independently while also thriving in team environments.
