The Sepsis Coordinator is a specialized healthcare professional responsible for leading efforts to optimize patient outcomes through the effective identification, treatment, and management of sepsis across the continuum of care. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care for patients with sepsis across emergency and inpatient settings. The coordinator serves as a clinical expert, educator, and quality improvement leader, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to enhance early recognition, treatment, and outcomes for sepsis patients.

Responsibilities

 

Serve as a clinical expert and resource for sepsis across departments. Conduct daily rounds to reinforce sepsis workflows, compliance, and provide bedside education.Develop and deliver educational materials for staff, patients, and families. Educate clinical and medical staff on sepsis protocols, early recognition, and treatment guidelines. Participate in professional development activities and sepsis-related forums. Lead the development and implementation of sepsis protocols, order sets, and clinical pathways. Perform chart reviews to identify gaps in care and documentationCoordinate sepsis-related quality improvement initiatives and report progress to leadership. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify and address barriers to effective sepsis care. Collect, analyze, and report sepsis metrics to clinical teams, quality, and leadership. Work with quality and data analysts to track performance and outcomes.Develop and evaluate sepsis scorecard with action plans to achieve best practice in sepsis performance.

Qualifications

 

Registered Nurse with current Alabama or Multistate License.Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or must be actively working on a Bachelor’s degree with completion date within 2 years of hire, with evidence of active matriculation. (Master’s preferred).Minimum 2 years in emergency or critical care settings; experience with sepsis managementexperience preferred.Skills: Strong clinical judgment, leadership, communication, and data analysis skills. Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
