Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire a Staff (level 5) Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer to join its team. This position is in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do:

The selected Staff Nuclear Surety Engineer will be getting in on the ground floor of a system designed to provide another 50 years of safety and security for this great nation. Nuclear Surety ensures that nuclear weapons are always protected against peacetime and wartime threats. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Performing decomposition of Department of Defense safety manuals into requirements and allocating them to design teams for implementationProvide systems engineering expertise to the design, integration, and testing of a next generation ICBM weapon systemParticipate in technical planning, system integration, verification, validation, cost, risk, supportability, and analysis for mechanical, electrical, and integrated systemsEvaluate the physical security design based on the Department of Defense Safety manualsInterface directly with various compartments of the Department of Defense and Department of Energy to ensure safe design and operation of nuclear weapon systemsUse model-based engineering tools on a major weapon system to pioneer a new way to evaluate and analyze modern designLearn a niche discipline that spans all aspects of Nuclear Power and Munitions

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 12 years of experience with bachelor’s degree, 8 years of experience with master’s degree, 6 years of experience with PhDMust be a US Citizen with an Active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 yearsMust be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs4 years of program milestone execution experience, including but not limited to: Systems Requirements Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review.  

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, electronic or software engineering disciplineActive DOD Top Secret Clearance • Experience with electrical or software analyses/test; verification of requirementsExperience with any of the following tools and languages: DOORs, Cameo, TeamCenter, GIT, JAZZ, NX, CapitolExperience with programmable logic devices, i.e. FPGAs, ASICsExperience working with Nuclear Surety Requirements and the Nuclear Certification process (e.g. AFI 63-125, AFMAN 91-118/91-119/31-108, DODM 5210.41)Prior experience and working knowledge of the Sentinel programHolding current INCOSE AESP or CESP certifications

Primary Level Salary Range: $147,700.00 - $221,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
