You will lead visual design strategy and execution across IBM Quantum digital experiences and products, driving innovation in visual expression and ensuring consistency across outputs. To achieve these goals you will partner closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and content strategists to shape experiences from concept through launch - balancing usability, technical feasibility, and craft. Your primary responsibilities will include: * Designing and delivering high-quality visual and UX solutions for IBM Quantum products, including the developer platform, education platform, documentation, and marketing website. * Advocating and setting the standard for visual design excellence and UX pattern consistency across all IBM Quantum touch points. * Leading the design for the IBM Quantum website - managing design requests from various stakeholders, including marketing, comms, and product management * Helping define, maintain, and evolve IBM Quantum’s design system, ensuring alignment with the broader IBM and Carbon Design Systems. * Translating complex, highly technical concepts into clear, intuitive, and elegant user experiences. * Giving and receiving thoughtful design feedback, contributing to a culture of critique, iteration, and continuous improvement. * Helping raise the overall quality bar for design through strong rationale, presentation, and collaboration. * Ensuring consistency and quality of development handoffs, and fostering alignment throughout the review and release processes. **Required technical and professional expertise** * Exceptionally strong visual design skills, with deep expertise in typography, layout, composition, color, and attention to detail * Expert-level proficiency working with Figma, including working with components, and maintaining Figma libraries * Strong conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design end-to-end flows that simplify complex workflows * Demonstrated experience designing usable, scalable interfaces for digital products or platforms * Experience working with design systems, including contributing to their evolution; a solid understanding of system rules and the ability to form and articulate opinions about them * Self-motivated and collaborative, with strong communication, project, and time management skills **Preferred technical and professional experience** * Basic familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML/CSS, JavaScript, React); enough to collaborate effectively with engineers and understand component constraints. * Experience designing for developer tools, cloud platforms, or other technical products. * Experience designing responsive, accessible interfaces and applying accessibility best practices. * Experience in project management and prioritization, and leading a team of designers in the timely execution of objectives.
