In a time where space-based missions are rapidly evolving and scaling, Leidos’ satellite sensor payloads play a critical role. The Space Systems Business Area within Leidos’ Defense Systems Sector delivers these sensors on a scale to serve multiple national security customers.

Space Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Vice President to lead a domestic team of over 300 plus employees with $200 million in revenue delivering solutions in support of national security missions in space, hypersonics, and cutting-edge materials technology. This is a dynamic, challenging opportunity to lead the operations, engineering, production, and execution of complex integrated satellite, sensor, optical payloads, and other space hardware technologies that are highly capable, fieldable, and scalable. In this role, you will serve as a growth-minded executive leader of Space business portfolio, reporting directly to Defense Sector President.

Primary Responsibilities

Operate in a fast-paced environment; demonstrate thought leadership; focus on delivering results; and work with teams across the divisions, operation, group and corporate levels to ensure all policies and procedures for financial management, program and IRAD reporting, people management, and new business capture are accomplished successfully.

Oversee program production, process, and quality to achieve flawless execution and customer satisfaction

Provide guidance to division managers and program/project managers to ensure organizational, technical, managerial and business development goals and values are met.

Execute growth strategy and pipeline development, customer relationship management, capture and proposal leadership, intra and inter-group collaboration, IR&D development and execution and B&P investments consistent with the operation’s overall business strategy to achieve top and bottom-line growth objectives

Lead an investment portfolio designed to strengthen and grow Leidos’s capabilities in space design, development, and production at scale

Drive innovation and modernization for space-based payloads, sensors and other hardware technologies

Develop business strategies that provide opportunities for growth in revenue, coordinating and leading the activities of multiple departments and subsidiaries, and ensuring the financial goals established within the AOP are satisfied

Hire, develop, engage, recruit, and retain a sound, ethical, and inclusive, high-performing team to meet forecasts and annual operating plan financial targets

Collaborate across Leidos (including executive leadership) to support critical mission needs, engage customers, develop business strategies, and market potential solutions

Work closely with contracts, finance, growth, human resources, manufacturing, program execution, and supply chain teams to develop and execute robust product roadmaps for Space products and key technologies

Location

The preferred base location for this role is San Diego, CA

Travel

The selected candidate is expected to travel approximately 25% - 50% of the time

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other STEM field with a minimum of 20+ years of related work experience, or a master’s with a minimum of 15 years of related work experience

Demonstrate broad leadership experience in organizations focused on strategic planning, development, operations and sustainment of current space campaigns and programs

Experience working with senior customers and across defense and space agencies

Current DoD Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI

Preferred Qualifications

Proven ability to lead change at scale, specifically in applying emerging methods and technologies to increase speed, agility, and efficiency within an organization and for its customers

Prior experience identifying potential partners and customers of national security and space community missions, developing team agreements to develop an integrated and differentiated business solution

Ability to leverage IRAD to develop technology discriminators and strategy for growth

Experience articulating complex technical concepts to customers, business development, program execution, technical teams, and executives, both orally and in writing

Direct financial management responsibility >$200M/Annually

Pay Range:Pay Range $279,700.00 - $450,000.00
