**Description**
SUMMARY
The SVP, Global Packaging at The Estée Lauder Companies will lead the end-to-end global packaging function across all brands and channels, setting strategic direction while ensuring transformative, operational and technical excellence. This leader will drive breakthrough end-to-end packaging innovation as a critical enabler of brand differentiation, consumer experience, and long-term business growth.
This role will position the Company as the industry leader in sustainable, digital, and prestige packaging design, and will represent ELC with industry bodies and suppliers, shaping innovation and sustainability agendas. The SVP, Global Packaging will balance strategic, enterprise leadership with deep technical knowledge, enabling collaboration with brand, supply chain, and R&I leaders, while inspiring and holding accountable a world-class global packaging team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
**Strategic Leadership**
+ Define and lead the global packaging vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate, brand, and R&I priorities. Act as an integrator with internal and external partners (e.g. suppliers).
+ Drive transformation of the department, processes, way of working, roadmap and competencies to be best-in-class.
+ Ensure brand and category KPIs are set strategically and delivered end-to-end.
+ Serve as a thought leader across the packaging industry, advancing ELC’s reputation for creativity, innovation, and sustainability.
+ Employ a global mindset; stay relevant, pro-actively monitor the marketplace and respond/deliver relevant proposals on a global/affiliate level.
**Innovation & Sustainability**
+ Lead development of luxury packaging solutions that fuse design, functionality, and brand DNA. Think in priority categories and sub-categories with a goal of shelf disruption, trial and conversion.
+ Advance and accelerate packaging & device innovation with focus on consumer experience, inclusivity, and personalization; ensure alignment with brand portfolio priorities and calendars.
+ Ensure innovation coverage from top initiatives with big brands (short stream) to experimental initiatives in new, nascent subcategories and brands (upstream). Lead inspiring and actionable innovation presentations to Brand leaders.
+ Explore next-gen materials and connected/smart packaging technologies. Drive new and breakthrough innovative packaging materials, color effects and decoration.
+ Embed sustainability & circular economy principles into packaging strategies.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration**
+ Partner across Marketing, R&I, Supply Chain, Creative Design, and Quality to deliver packaging that meets consumer expectations, supports on-time launches, and drives brand equity.
+ Expand collaboration with Digital, IT, and Data Analytics to enable lifecycle analysis, packaging performance insights, and smarter decision-making.
+ Help lead enterprise-wide transformational change in how ELC views, designs and delivers packaging to our consumer

**Operational & Technical Excellence**
+ Ensure packaging engineering, materials science, and technical readiness excellence across global labs, supplier networks, and operations.
+ Champion process standardization, continuous improvement, digitization, and global best practices. Build scaled operating excellence across the Packaging eco-system (work processes, methods, systems, tools)
+ Leading base business maintenance, including packaging cost-saving programs, business continuity planning, SKU maintenance and competitiveness.
+ Maintain regulatory, quality, and sustainability compliance standards.
+ Establish and maintain departmental budget.
**Talent & Leadership**
+ Inspire and develop a high-performing global team across packaging design, and testing.
+ Foster an inclusive culture of innovation, challenger mindset, and continuous learning.
+ Build talent pipelines, succession plans, and future capabilities to meet evolving business needs.
+ Maintain a highly skilled and high-performing organization, assessing hiring priorities vs. budget and business priorities.
**External Engagement**
+ Represent ELC as an external ambassador at industry forums, supplier partnerships, and sustainability coalitions.
+ Shape global packaging innovation and sustainability agendas through thought leadership and collaboration.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ **Business Understanding & Beauty Industry Expertise:** 20+ years of progressive experience in packaging leadership roles preferably in prestige beauty (or adjacent luxury consumer or personal care) packaging, ideally in a high SKU, rapid innovation environment. Ability to incorporate value-added design ideas and inspiration from other luxury categories.
+ **Trend-Driven Consumer Focus:** At the forefront of packaging and material innovation trends, with a passion for creating consumer-centric, elevated experiences that build brand equity and support premium pricing.
+ **Multi-Brand & Brand Storytelling:** Demonstrated success working across multiple brands and categories in a brand-led organization. Deep understanding of consumer behavior and the role of packaging in storytelling, balancing form and function while protecting brand equity.
+ **Global Leadership** : Demonstrated success leading large, complex, global teams; ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment.
+ **Innovative End-to End Packaging Leadership:** Deep technical expertise in packaging design, and engineering strategy development and leadership, including sensorial design, materials, textures, finishes, and aesthetics relevant to prestige beauty. End-to-end value chain knowledge including testing and manufacturing processes.
+ **Technical Depth:** Breadth of technical competence in packaging design and development, including ergonomic design, tooling, and packaging manufacturing processes (plastics, glass, metals). Strong understanding of CMF (Color, Material, Finish) strategies and supplier partnerships.
+ **Sustainability & Regulatory Knowledge:** Deep knowledge of sustainable packaging solutions (refillable, recyclability, circular systems) and familiarity with global regulatory frameworks (REACH, FDA, EU standards). Ability to translate sustainability ambitions into pragmatic solutions.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science, Engineering, or related technical field required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PhD) strongly preferred.
+ IOPP certification preferred.
