Job Description

The Senior Value and Access Manager is responsible for driving market access and value strategies for AbbVie’s portfolio across Australia and New Zealand. Based in our Sydney office, this role focuses on securing timely and sustainable patient access to therapies by developing and executing strategic market access plans and leading submissions to PBAC (Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee), MSAC (Medical Services Advisory Committee), and PHARMAC.

The position requires strong collaboration with internal stakeholders and engagement with external partners. Success in this role depends on a keen understanding of healthcare systems, analytical skills, and proven expertise in securing product listings within complex regulatory environments.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead preparation of PBAC, MSAC and PHARMAC submissions, including writing clear, evidence-based content, with accountability for quality, alignment, and delivery timelines.Serve as the market access lead on cross-functional teams, delivering reliable access and payer insights to shape strategy and inform business planning.Lead reimbursement feasibility assessments for pipeline assets to support portfolio prioritisation and resource allocation.Monitor the evolving reimbursement and policy landscape in Australia and New Zealand and contribute to stakeholder engagement activities that support access objectives.Collaborate with regional and global teams to ensure local access insights inform evidence planning and support alignment on access and pricing strategy.Provide input into reimbursement and pricing assumptions for financial planning cyclesCoach/mentor less experienced market access colleaguesRepresent AbbVie externally with Department of Health, Medicines Australia and external experts relevant to portfolio as required.Report any adverse event within 24 hours as per AbbVie’s policies and procedures.Proactively participate in AbbVie’s WHS programs, adhere to policies and promote a safe work environment at all times.Adhere to AbbVie’s internal codes of conduct and compliance processes.Other ad hoc duties such as administrative duties, as requested.
Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in Biomedical, Science, Public Health, Health Economics, or Business AdministrationExtensive experience in market access, health economics, or related roles within the pharmaceutical industryStrong understanding of the ANZ healthcare system and reimbursement processesExperience in Market Access strategy development, and advanced capability in writing high-quality HTA submissions with clear, evidence-based value propositionsDemonstrated ability to lead projects independently, including management of external vendors and project timelineStrong strategic & analytical thinking: demonstrated by the ability to identify and understand complex issues and problems, and interpret information in a manner that provides appropriate recommendations to senior management and across functional areasExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content to technical and non-technical audiences.Demonstrated ability to lead projects independently, including management of external vendors and project timelineProven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and matrix environments, and to lead collaborative initiativesAbility to adapt to evolving customer needs/demands within a changing environment
