The UNIX Platform role involves responsibilities as a Server Administrator, primarily supporting platform tasks required for server or port migrations during infrastructure transitions—such as storage, switch, or converged infrastructure upgrades.
Key Responsibilities:Utilize previous experience to promote best practices and drive improvements to existing methodologies.
Provide advanced administration across multiple UNIX operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Solaris, and AIX.
Possess knowledge of host-side software tools used in storage and converged infrastructure environments, including Solutions Enabler, PowerPath, Veritas Volume Manager, and cluster software (e.g., Client Grabs).
Use various migration technologies suitable for large-scale data center environments.
Perform host discovery and analysis to assess operating system and application configurations for compatibility with SAN and converged infrastructure components.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot applications and software.
Develop detailed technical runbooks, migration sequences, and contribute to change management documentation.
Be available for extensive weekend and after-hours migration activities.
Bring experience working on large-scale infrastructure transformation programs.
Preferably experienced with host scripting and job scheduling.
Exposure to other host operating systems is a plus.
