Senior Underwriter Construction (f/m/x)

Make your mark in Construction AIG underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals. How you will create an impact: + You will be empowered with significant underwriting authority to negotiate and make sound business decisions in order to deliver regional financial targets. + You will assist the regional construction lead in developing and executing on strategic initiatives. + You will work with brokers in real-time and make quick decisions. + You will provide a streamlined service to brokers, by following the “Underwriting Rules & Guidelines” and by using existing pricing tools / modelling tools / MI tools. + You will collaborate with local distribution to establish a “pipeline” of target accounts across all lines of Insurance, not just Construction. + You will use existing reports/data to monitor profitability trends across your portfolio. + You will keep abreast of market developments, especially in your region. + You will have a thorough understanding of policy forms / contracts but will also work with our in house legal team and outside counsel on complex coverage issues. + You will develop strong long term relationships with brokers and clients, providing superior service to establish mutually beneficial partnerships. + Provide training and support to junior members of the team. What you will need to succeed: + Construction underwriting experience, preferably at a large international insurance company. + You have recognized relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level and are well established within the market. + You have a thorough understanding of regional / local Engineering & Construction insurance markets and competitor landscape. + You have a thorough understanding of policy wordings and relevant industry developments. + You have the ability to work quickly and effectively in a small team, helping the regional construction team to hit their targets. + You are capable of leveraging data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective. + You have excellent negotiation skills, ability to build, maintain and expand relationship with key broker partners and clients. + You have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. + You should be results-oriented. + Preferably, you have a degree either in engineering/construction, economics, law or other appropriate discipline. + Ideally you are ACII qualified or working towards it.
