Overview

Chubb Real Estate & Hospitality is looking for an applicant to fill the position of Senior Underwriter in our New York office. We offer customized & complex primary casualty insurance programs tailored to our client’s business needs and operations within the Real Estate & Hospitality industry. 

Responsibilities

Handle day-to-day servicing of a book of large, complex, primary casualty Real Estate & Hospitality accounts.Be responsible for growth and retention of assigned book.Negotiate the annual pricing, terms and conditions on renewal business.Work on new business opportunities with key brokerage houses in regions around the country, design and propose appropriate program structures and pricing for said opportunities.Maintain and develop relationships with their brokers and clients.Develop a pipeline with our major trading partners, as well as engaging other business units for cross-selling opportunities across the industry practice.Maintain service standards by timely response to broker request and timely submission of quotations, binders, policies and endorsements.Responsibility for file maintenance of handled client accounts.Bachelor’s degreeAt least 4+ years casualty underwriting experienceExperience with Real Estate & Hospitality underwriting or other similar technical risks a plusPrior large, complex primary casualty underwriting knowledge.  Strong knowledge of guaranteed cost programs, as well as loss sensitive structures, captives, etc.Proficiency in Microsoft Office SuitePresentation and public speaking skillsStrong negotiations skillsLocal broker and insurance marketplace relationshipsKnowledge and understanding of current insurance marketplace conditionsUnderstanding and adherence to organizational and regulatory rules, and ability to adhere to underwriting authorityUnderstanding of Workers Compensation, General Liability and Auto Liability Insurance coverage, terms and conditionsAbility to identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls. Ability to select risk based on exposure and hazard analysis. Ability to analyze claims and loss trends.

 

The pay range for the role is $114,600 to $194,800. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.  Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website.  The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
