Job DescriptionAECOM Transportation is seeking a creative and talented experienced Senior Transportation Planner to join our diverse and holistically focused transit planning group in Arlington, VA for immediate employment.
Imagine working on rewarding transit projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic and nationally, within a growing multimodal transit planning team, supporting some of the best and most challenging regional transit projects along with some national work opportunities.
This role is an excellent opportunity for a senior transportation professional with transit industry experience and focused knowledge within the Mid-Atlantic region, who is eager to take on greater responsibility and ownership of complex projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of transit planning principles and project execution, and supporting a diverse portfolio that includes multimodal corridors, complete streets, active transportation, bus operations, transit technology and decarbonization, innovative mobility solutions, BRT and rural transit, safety initiatives, performance studies, and transit policy research. Additionally, this role involves guiding and managing planning and preliminary design/engineering studies and tasks for local, state, and federal clients, with projects ranging from feasibility and corridor studies to regional and statewide plans, facility planning and design, and TOD/station-area development.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and recommend transit system improvements based on technological change and economic, population, land use, and traffic projections, transit modeling software and GIS dataCommunicate complex technical information in clear, engaging, and creative ways to a variety of audiencesCollaborate with engineers to research, analyze, or resolve complex transportation design issuesDevelop design ideas for new or improved transit infrastructure, including stations and alignments, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, complete streets, and electric vehiclesReview development plans for transit system effects, infrastructure requirements, and compliance with applicable regulationsPrepare presentation materials and facilitate meetings with client staff, agency boards, commissions, and elected officialsParticipate in public meetings and hearings to explain planning proposals, gather feedback from those affected by projects, and/or achieve project design consensusSupport technical task and project management—including team leadership, client engagement, budget and schedule oversight, technical approach development, execution, quality control, and cross-discipline coordinationMaintain excellent client relationships through attentive service, project delivery, communication and professionalism, and anticipation of client needsAssist business development activities through client agency and peer firm networking, internal and external knowledge sharing of AECOM technical experience and capabilities, and engaging with local and national industry trends and innovationAssist project pursuit leaders and collaborate with other team members in developing proposal materialsQualificationsBachelor's Degree in Planning, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline6 years of related transit planning experience with some project management, client service management, design, and/or business development experience or demonstrated equivalency and/or educationExperience developing project deliverables, including operating and scheduling plans, public facing outreach materials, and technical data analysisExperience working with and supporting interdisciplinary teams on project delivery and client satisfaction Experience working on transit agency planning studies and preparing technical reports
Preferred:
