We are seeking a Senior Transmission Line Designer who will work as a member of a dynamic team working in a fast-paced environment, solving challenging problems involved with electric transmission.
The successful candidate will serve as a designer on electric transmission line design projects for high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead and underground systems for some of the largest utilities in the country.
This person will work independently with the direction of an engineer, applying engineering standards in the design of electrical overhead and underground transmission line systems, reconductor projects, greenfield projects, brownfield projects, structure replacement projects, and various other types of projects. Additionally, this person will perform engineering analyses, prepare bidding documents, draft plans and specifications, prepare material procurement and construction documents, and all aspects of transmission line design. This will involve working with a multi-person Leidos team and interfacing with clients, project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management personnel.
Work Location: Orlando, FL office preferred; Remote/Hybrid optional in Florida
You should minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below.
Minimum of four (4) years of prior relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systemsExperience involved in full transmission line designs including PLS-CADD models, material, plan and profiles, and construction packagesKnowledge of NESC requirements; material procurement process; project schedules; and construction work packages.Ability to work effectively in team environment but also able to work independentlyProven ability to communicate with clients and project teamsPeriodic travel may be required for site visits, construction support, and in person meetingsLeidos is growing!
