Senior Training Specialist-Process Front End

VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: SENIOR TRAINING SPECIALIST- PROCESS FRONT END

Reporting to the Process and Safety Training Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating training programs that ensure safe, efficient, and competent operation of all front-end process plant areas

Your Duties and Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

Develop and maintain structured training programs for Front-End process areas (Crushing, Conveying, Screening, and associated equipment).

Deliver classroom, simulator, and field-based instruction to operators, controllers, and new recruits.

Ensure training materials reflect current SOPs, metallurgical requirements, and OEM recommendations.

Conduct refresher training and task-specific coaching.

Coordinate and conduct advanced competency assessments for Process Operators (Front-End).

Lead Verification of Competency (VOC) programs across all Front-End circuits.

Work with Metallurgy, Control Room, and Production teams to identify performance gaps and bottlenecks in Front-End circuits.

Conduct field audits, operator observations, and task cycle evaluations to identify inefficiencies.

Support implementation of operational excellence initiatives (e.g., throughput improvement, downtime reduction, RCA findings).

Assist with process optimization activities through improved operator performance.

Ensure all training incorporates safety, risk awareness, and hazard controls specific to crushing, conveyors, and material handling systems.

Participate in investigations involving process upsets, equipment failures, or operator errors.

Mentor junior training specialists and on-the-job trainers (OJTs) to strengthen the training team.

Prepare weekly and monthly training reports, highlighting progress, gaps, and recommendations.

Maintain SOPs, training manuals, flowcharts, and competency frameworks for Front-End processes.

Provide updates during audits, inspections, or internal/external reviews.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

Full Grade 12 School Certificate. 

Minimum Diploma in Metallurgy, Chemical/Process Engineering, Mineral Processing, or related field 

6–8 years’ experience in process plant operations with a focus on crushing and front-end circuits

Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, Diploma in Teaching Methodology or equivalent training qualification. Accredited with TEVET

Experience in training and development of operators in all technical operational disciplines of open pit mining operations.

Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications. 

Competent in incident/accident investigation

Have a Valid Zambian Driver license.
