Your duties will include but not limited to the following:
Train technicians, Metal Fabrication Apprentices on various metal fabrication techniques, including cutting, welding, bending, shaping, and assembling metal components using different tools and equipment.
Deliver safety training sessions focused on metal fabrication processes, emphasizing hazard identification, risk assessment, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proper handling of tools and equipment, and safe work practices to prevent accidents and injuries.
Provide training on the operation, maintenance, and safety procedures for metal fabrication equipment, such as welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, drills, and presses, to ensure safe and efficient operation
Train to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications related to metal fabrication projects, ensuring they understand design requirements and fabrication processes.
Conduct hands-on training and practical demonstrations of metal fabrication techniques and
processes, allowing technicians to practice skills in a controlled environment and gain proficiency.
Educate technicians/Apprentices on proper material handling, storage, and inventory management practices for metal stock, including handling heavy and bulky materials safely and organizing materials efficiently to minimize waste and downtime.
Train Artisan/Apprentices on quality control procedures and inspection techniques to ensure fabricated metal components meet specified tolerances, dimensions, and quality standards.
Ensure that metal fabrication training programs comply with relevant regulatory standards, industry best practices, and company policies, with focus on promoting a culture of safety and regulatory compliance among maintenance personnel.
Assess technicians'/Apprentices' knowledge and skills through written exams, practical assessments, and performance evaluations to ensure they meet the required competency levels in metal fabrication techniques and processes
Maintain accurate records of metal fabrication training activities, including attendance, training content covered, evaluation results, and certification records. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal record-keeping standards.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
Bachelors of Diploma in Metal Fabrication Engineering or equivalent
Diploma in Teaching Methodology and must be accredited with TEVETA as a Trainer, Assessor and examiner.
SAQA / Certificate IV Workplace Training and Assessment/ Train the Trainer training qualification (or equivalent) an added advantage
Minimum Five (5) years' working experience.
Member of The Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ & ERB)
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
