Senior Tester
Senior Tester Job Description: The Senior Tester is responsible for carrying out thorough, yet efficient testing and quality assurance across Sage HR, including integrations to internal and external services. The position requires creation of accurate test plans and execution against these, ensuring that all issues are raised and managed to completion. The candidate should have an eye for detail and be quality focused, resulting in thorough and well-organized test phases across all projects they work on ensuring QA is of the highest quality. The position will require working closely with all stakeholders, to ensure they fully understand system processes. It will also require the leading on various testing initiatives across the full team. Daily tasks would include: -Complete assigned QA tasks to agreed level of quality and by the required target dates. -Automation of new functionality and maintenance of existing tests. -Daily failure investigation and resolution reporting. -Design, develop, and maintain all testing artefacts. -Ensure adherence to best practice and processes. -Provide accurate, detailed and timely estimates and track own activities against plan, escalating where necessary. -Provide 3rd tier support and/or expertise for the system under test where necessary. -Actively contribute to retrospectives/debriefs in areas of responsibility to develop the teams’ abilities. -Attend, prepare and participate in LEAD process. *** This is a hybrid position - you will work 3 days a week from either our Newcastle or Barcelona office. *** Key Responsibilities: 1. Accountabilities - Plan, schedule and deliver QA of high quality across projects and systems. - Review and provide feedback on source documents used to create testing artefacts. - Execute testing within defined stages of development e.g. exploratory, regression, load and performance etc. - Share knowledge and expertise across the wider team and coach Associate and Mid-level testers. - Take accountability for all test related activities within a test phase. - Produce effective test metrics for the team lead. - Define appropriate test coverage to mitigate the identified risks. - Demonstrate continuous improvement in your product and system knowledge. - Develop skills and experience of Automation tools. - Identify opportunities for improving Sage testing standards. - Accurately record and communicate issues found during test phases. - Accurately record time spent on tasks. - Keep up to date with relevant testing tools / techniques. - Seek out and act upon feedback from team members. 2. Skills, know-how, experience: - A number of years' professional testing experience. - Excellent interpersonal skills. - Self-motivated with drive and ability to work on own initiative. - Ability to work in a team, building strong relationships to maximise collaboration. - Experienced of working in an agile environment. - Experienced in load and performance testing - Experienced in front/back-end automation. - Ability to translate requirements into test scenarios. - Attention to detail. - Problem solving / self-starting nature – always providing solutions and options. - Calm and methodical approach to conflicting situations. - Active and enthusiastic team player. - Logical. - Resilient. - Proactive approach to the role. - Exposure to software development lifecycles and testing methodologies. 3. Nice to have: - ISTQB Foundation certification. - Degree or relevant professional qualification desirable and / or work experience in related role. - Basic competence\understanding in C# for automation. - Experience with Selenium Test automation. - Experience in working with Docker images.
