Stryker’s Instruments Test Lab is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to perform development, verification and lifecycle testing on the next generation of medical devices. As a member of the Test Lab Team you will be a key part of bringing the next generation of cutting edge medical technology to market.
In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and conducting performance and lifecycle testing on assigned projects and products. You will act as the testing representative and primary technical point of contact between the Test Lab and the Product Development team responsible for the commercialization of equipment. This position will be key to determining test protocols, screening design concepts and testing methods, coordinating testing with other lab equipment, and working towards delivering on project due dates. This position may also coordinate other lab staff to contribute to keep the testing moving through 2nd and 3rd shift.
What You Will Do
In this role you will be responsible for the testing needs of a wide variety of products to make healthcare better. This includes assisting project teams with insightful feedback, hands on test protocol development, and proactive planning to ensure reliable product testing. You will work to ensure team's testing needs are well thought out and proactively involve all of the necessary supporting groups before testing such as Metrology, Quality, CAE, and Test Operations.
Assist design groups and internal customers from the start of research all the way to final verification testing.
Aid in selecting test equipment, protocol development, test set-up and test execution.
Design, develop, and implement high quality test systems customized to the product being tested.
Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of good laboratory practices, testing standards, procedures, statistical knowledge, and laboratory safety practices.
Communicate proactively and effectively to act as the key contact between stakeholders and the lab.
Assists with the formulation of test guidelines and procedures and may recommend revisions of specifications where necessary.
Evaluate, recommend, and maintain engineering-related test systems.
Assist Test Lab management with priorities, scheduling, and technician training for all work related to their allocated projects.
What You Need
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science is required, preference for Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology degree, preference for Masters/PhD.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required with a B.S.
Basic understanding of testing, testing equipment, good laboratory practices, and department metrics.
Proficient use of common laboratory test equipment is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Effective interpersonal communication skills are required.
Mechanical/electrical/software problem-solving skills are desired
Comfortable and confident speaking in front of small to medium groups of people.
Test Lab/ Test Systems experience preferred.
Exercise discretion and independence when applying professional expertise.
Able to manage time and projects proactively, complete documentation accurately and bring tasks through to completion with minimal supervision.
Able to analyze and correct complex processes and/or product issues using independent judgment.
Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
This is a 1st shift position but may require face to face communication with 2nd and 3rd shift lab staff on occasion.
Medical Device experience in a highly regulated environment a plus.
