Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Test Engineer to lead comprehensive testing activities for our Base Software (BSW) and ecosystem components. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and safety of our embedded software stack. You will own the entire testing lifecycle—from requirement analysis and test case design to execution and infrastructure management—with a strong focus on our Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) systems.
This position is ideal for a proactive problem-solver with a deep understanding of embedded systems and a passion for continuous improvement in a fast-paced automotive or off-highway environment.
Key Responsibilities
Test Strategy & Design: Analyze software and system requirements, provide feedback on their testability during reviews, and translate them into robust, traceable test cases and automated scripts.Test Execution & Analysis: Develop, review, and execute system-level test cases. Configure complex test environments, meticulously evaluate test results, and document findings with clarity.BSW & System Integration Testing: Conduct in-depth BSW component testing and acceptance testing to ensure strict compliance with specifications. Independently manage and coordinate system integration tests involving various ecosystem components.HiL Infrastructure Management: Take ownership of our Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing infrastructure (e.g., dSPACE, ETAS, NI). Ensure its continuous availability, efficiency, and effectiveness for all testing activities.Process Improvement: Drive the continuous improvement of our test environments, tools, and methodologies. Identify and implement measures to enhance overall software quality and testing efficiency.Collaboration & Coordination: Work independently to manage your testing projects while collaborating closely with software developers, system engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure alignment.QualificationsRequired Skills & Experience
Experience: minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in testing complex embedded safety systems, ECUs, or similar components within the Automotive or Off-highway domain.Technical Foundation: Solid understanding of embedded software architecture and principles.Test Management Tools: Proficiency with Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools such as IBM ALM (DOORS/DNG, RTC), Jira, or similar.Test Automation Tools: Proven experience with test automation tools like ECU-TEST or TPT.HiL Systems: Hands-on experience working with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) test environments from vendors like dSPACE, ETAS, or National Instruments (NI).CAN & Diagnostic Tools: Good knowledge of CAN bus protocol and experience with relevant tools like Vector CANoe/CANalyzer or ETAS INCA/CANape.Scripting Proficiency: Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python or CAPL.CI/CD & Adaptability: Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and a demonstrated ability to adapt to new tools and technologies.Mindset: Exceptional analytical, logical, and problem-solving abilities. You are a self-starter who can work independently but thrives as part of a collaborative team.Communication & Travel: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Willingness to undertake occasional short work trips, primarily to Germany.Additional Skills (Nice to Have)
