Senior Test Engineer – Accessibility

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Senior Test Engineer – Accessibility supporting state and Federal contracts in the Technology Shared Services (TSS) group, you will be trusted to evaluate and support development of accessible software, Web and mobile applications.

This role will be fully remote.

In this role, a typical day will include the responsibilities below:

Evaluate software, Web and mobile application user interfaces (UI) to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, AADevelop accessibility test plans, test cases, and documentationTest and remediate accessible electronic documents in common formats (MS Office, PDF)Produce clearly written, specific, actionable recommendations for remediation of accessibility issuesCollaborate with project teams to identify approaches, practices, and methodologies that enhance maturity of accessibility processes while meeting business objectives   Provide accessibility oversight in the UI planning and design processCreate accessibility conformance reports to document accessibility status Verify accuracy of Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) produced by third partiesUtilize assistive technologies for manual testingPerform keyboard testing in a variety of environmentsUse accessibility testing software, such as ANDI, Axe DevTools, Accessibility Insights, SortSite, Color Contrast Analyzer, Microsoft Inspect, and/or Oracle Java Access InspectorCollaborate closely with clients to identify and understand specific compliance challenges and needsMaintain awareness of appropriate client policies and programsMaintain broad awareness of compliance requirements, processes and objectives through executive briefings, training programs and internal communication tools

 

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Information Studies, Instructional Design, Information Instructional Technology, Curriculum Design and Development, or other areas applicable to the position’s description and needs (or equivalent years of experience)5+ years of relevant experience in Testing, UI/UX, Usability, Accessibility/Section 508, or some combination thereofExperience with accessibility requirements for applications and electronic documentsKnowledge of accessible design practices and effective incorporation of accessibility into the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)Demonstrated ability to work effectively with subject matter experts to conduct research, resolve issues, and develop recommendations.

Preferred qualifications:

The following certifications, or a combination thereof, are preferred:

DHS Trusted Tester IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS)IAAP Accessible Document Specialist (ADS)

Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance with the United States Government is preferred.
