Job Title: Technical Trainer (Telecom / Data Center)

Job Description

The Sr. Technical Trainer delivers high-volume, in-person technical instruction for telecom and data center environments within a corporate university setting. This role focuses on training adult learners using a pre-defined curriculum, with at least 75% of the work week dedicated to classroom and hands-on instruction. As a member of the training team, you model professionalism and best practices, collaborate closely with trainers and subject matter experts, and help ensure the successful deployment of next-generation infrastructure technologies. This is a 100% onsite position with potential for contract extension.

Responsibilities

Facilitate employee training and onboarding using approved curriculum and training materials.Deliver technical instruction through lectures, hands-on activities, labs, and various assessments focused on telecom and data center infrastructure.Provide remediation, coaching, and individualized support to learners to ensure they achieve training objectives and learning outcomes.Consult and collaborate with other trainers, managers, leadership, and stakeholders to align training with operational needs.Track, compile, and maintain accurate training data and metrics for reporting and continuous improvement.Document employee performance, assessment results, and overall training outcomes in accordance with established processes.Review, test, and provide structured feedback on training content, labs, and instructional materials to improve clarity and effectiveness.Prepare and maintain training facilities, including daily classroom setup, equipment readiness, and routine cleaning of training spaces.Stay current on data center tools, structured cabling practices, and infrastructure best practices to keep instruction relevant and accurate.Coordinate and monitor learner enrollment, class rosters, and training schedules to ensure smooth delivery of multiple sessions.Assess training needs through surveys, interviews, and feedback from learners and stakeholders to identify gaps and opportunities.Support the conceptualization, design, and development of new training modules, labs, and materials as technologies and requirements evolve.Communicate available training resources, online materials, and learning tools to learners and stakeholders as appropriate.Coach, mentor, and develop Associate Trainers, providing guidance on instructional techniques and content mastery.Travel as needed to deliver training or support training initiatives at other locations.

Essential Skills

6–9 years of field industry experience installing structured cabling, preferably fiber-based solutions.Hands-on experience in telecom or data center environments, particularly with structured cabling installation.Telecommunication industry certifications, preferably BICSI or equivalent credentials.Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.Expert organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset and attention to detail.Ability to multitask, prioritize work effectively, and manage time in a fast-paced training environment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills suitable for adult learning and technical instruction.Ability to analyze problems, interpret feedback, and develop strategies for improved training outcomes.Professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for a corporate training environment.Authorization to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience delivering technical training or instruction to adult learners in a classroom or lab environment.Experience in telecom, data center operations, or infrastructure deployment projects.Familiarity with next-generation data center tools, structured cabling standards, and infrastructure best practices.Experience creating, reviewing, or refining technical training materials, labs, and assessments.Ability to gather and interpret training needs through surveys, interviews, and performance data.Experience coaching or mentoring junior trainers or technical staff.Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is preferred.Comfort disclosing and discussing any use of AI tools during the application and interview process, in alignment with the organization’s hiring practices regarding AI.

Work Environment

This role is 100% in-person and onsite, working within a corporate university-style training environment focused on telecom and data center technologies. You will spend the majority of your time—at least three-quarters of each week—delivering classroom and lab-based training to adult learners, using structured curricula, hands-on labs, and standard office productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel. The position involves regular use of training labs, structured cabling equipment, and data center-related tools, along with routine classroom setup and daily cleaning to maintain a professional and organized learning space. Collaboration with trainers, subject matter experts, and leadership is frequent, creating a team-oriented culture that emphasizes professionalism, continuous learning, and high-quality instruction. Some travel may be required to support training at additional sites. Dress and conduct are expected to reflect a professional corporate training environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $44.00/hr.
