Senior Technical Manager, Transmission Line Project Engineer

Impact** **Project Engineering Leadership** + Lead and execute transmission line engineering projects up to 765kV, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to scope, schedule, and budget. + Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including schedules, resource forecasts, and deliverables. + Conduct regular project meetings (weekly or bi-weekly) to review progress, assign responsibilities, and communicate upcoming tasks. + Coordinate across multi-disciplinary teams, both internal and external, to ensure seamless project execution and communication. + Interface directly with clients, providing updates, attending meetings, and ensuring client expectations are met. + Apply deep technical expertise in transmission line design, including: + PLS-CADD modeling and structure staking + Foundation and assembly drawings + Structure loading and material procurement + Construction specifications, estimates, and support + Ensure quality assurance by adhering to POWER’s QA/QC procedures throughout the project lifecycle. + Lead project teams of varying sizes, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical oversight. + Forecast project needs to support resource planning and allocation. + Travel as needed to client offices, field sites, and vendor facilities. + Participate in industry conferences and internal knowledge-sharing initiatives to foster professional growth and innovation. **Project Manager (PM) Support** + Collaborate with PMs to develop scopes, schedules, and budgets for new and ongoing projects. + Support PMs with status reporting, forecasting, and identifying out-of-scope work or scope variances. + Provide regular project updates, including progress tracking and resource needs. + Attend client meetings, both in-person and remotely, to support project delivery and relationship management. + Help cultivate client relationships, positioning POWER for future opportunities and repeat business. **Department Support** + Assist with resource forecasting, ensuring the department is prepared for upcoming project demands. + Support recruitment efforts, helping identify and onboard top engineering talent. + Contribute to business improvement initiatives, including process optimization and methodology development. + Mentor and support staff performance, working with department leadership to foster technical growth and career development. + Participate in business planning, offering insights and recommendations to guide strategic direction. **Who You Are** **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. + 10+ years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for capital projects in power transmission. + Professional Engineering (PE) licensure. + Understanding of the NESC, RUS, and/or GO-90. + Strong understanding of transmission line fundamentals and PLS-CADD operation + Strong knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. + Highly proficient with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations. + Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing intricate ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience. + Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients, regulators, project managers, and employees at all levels of the organization. + Works independently to provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC. + Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., CADD), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools. + Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity. + Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, computations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution. + Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently. + Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. + Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Field program planning, management, and execution. + Cost estimating and scheduling. + Field experience. + MBA degree from an accredited university. + Involvement in technical societies (IEEE, CIGRE, ASCE…) + Experience using ArcGIS, AutoCAD/Microstation, Foundation Design Software (FAD Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $115,100 - $177,100 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. Expected Salary (Colorado only): $129,600- $166,200 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
