Senior Technical Consultant Job Description: As a senior member of the regional Centre of Excellence (CoE) team, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Consultant plays a critical role in driving AI-led transformation across the organization. This strategic position is responsible for leveraging AI technologies to fuel innovation, streamline operations, and deliver measurable business value. Operating at both solution and technical architect levels, you will lead complex pre-sales engagements, manage solution implementation, and provide expert input in escalated support scenarios—ensuring all AI solutions meet the highest standards and align with global best practices. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders including Project Managers, Developers, IT, Product, and Sales Engineering teams—as well as customers and Business Partners—to design and deliver scalable, intelligent solutions that address real-world business challenges. Location - 3 days per week out of our Johannesburg office. Key Responsibilities: AI Solution Design & Delivery • Lead the design, configuration, customization, testing, and deployment of advanced AI solutions including machine learning models, NLP, and intelligent automation. • Build automated tools for daily operations, technical audits, and consulting activities across Sage applications. • Drive regional AI initiatives and contribute to global AI delivery squads. • Conduct functional and design reviews to ensure solution quality, alignment, and sustainability. • Maintain and evolve solution documentation, toolkits, and best practices aligned with product updates. • Identify and apply leading methodologies for AI deployment and continuous optimization. • Enablement & Knowledge Sharing • Design and deliver enablement programs to upskill Business Partners and internal teams in AI capabilities. • Create and share best practice recommendations to maximize the value of AI solutions. • Develop high-quality enablement assets such as guides, presentations, and documentation. • Mentor consultants and lead training sessions for internal, partner, and customer audiences. Pre-Sales & Strategic Engagement • Engage in pre-sales activities including solution scoping, feasibility assessments, and effort estimations for AI-driven projects. • Position value-added AI services proactively during Business Partner implementations. • Align individual delivery to both local business goals and the global AI strategy. • Operational Excellence & Financial Accountability • Deliver billable AI consulting services and support accurate invoicing to ensure CoE profitability. • Manage monthly utilization targets across billable and non-billable activities. • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks (e.g., budget overruns, delivery delays). • Provide expert-level AI support and guidance across the broader Sage ecosystem. Must-Have Skills & Attributes • Passion for delivering exceptional partner and customer experiences. • Proven ability to lead key activities such as Discovery Workshops, UAT, Migrations, and Upgrades. • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities, especially in complex support situations. • Effective knowledge transfer to diverse audiences, both technical and non-technical. • Risk-aware thinking and structured decision-making. • Strong commercial acumen: able to position the business value of AI solutions. • Financial fluency and ability to track and bill services effectively. • Ability to balance multiple projects while managing workload independently. • Deep collaboration skills and a growth mindset—motivated, agile, and proactive. • Active participation in technical and functional communities, events, or forums. Qualifications • Required: Degree-level qualification and/or equivalent practical experience. Preferred: • Hands-on experience with data analytics and robotic process automation (RPA). • Cloud hosting proficiency in AWS or Azure environments. • Exposure to ERP systems such as Microsoft, SAP, or Oracle.
